Hikvision also released a 4 megapixel version of the mini PTZ with 25x zoom called the DS-2DE4A425IW-DE

I wonder what this version will cost and what it will do with the price of the 3 megapixel version?
Still not decided which one I want.

The 4mp is not what you should care about, its the fact that its a low light sensor. Will be much better than the 3mp version. Check to see if they have low light versions in 3/2mp as well.

I know that the sensor makes the difference. The location I have in mind for the camera has artificial lighting, but as always, a better sensor will have better results. I am aware of that.

I have the DS-2DE3304W-DE and I find the low light performance on that camera really good. So If I can buy a camera with more optical zoom and auto tracking with the same (or better) low light performance as my DS-2DE3304W-DE for a good price then I am happy.

I hope reviews will come in soon on the new 4MP version so I can compare them to the 2 MP version.

Fenderman is correct 2mp kills there 3mp and 4mp
I have on order there low light version in 4 x zoom
I have tested all of them and the 2 mp wins
The 25x 2mp is ok
What’s the model number for that 2mp low light with the 4 x zoom Mark?

Does anyone use the alarm inputs to trigger a camera movement to a different preset? I've got it working fine with 2 exceptions.

1) When alarm input is triggered, camera moves correctly to new preset location. However, I cannot get it to stay there for more than 20 seconds. In the camera configuration, if you try to enter more than 20 seconds, it defaults back to 20. I want the camera to stay at the new preset location until movement is no longer there. I'd settle for a fixed time of 2-3 minutes, but I can't enter more than 20 seconds.

2) When 20 seconds is up, it returns to preset #1 instead of where it was positioned prior to being triggered. Any way to overcome this? The solution was to change my default location to preset 1. Not a huge deal, but it would be nice to have the camera reset back to where it came from instead of always returning to preset #1.

Have you tried under PTZ tab set the park time? Change the time and set it to preset

How would you say the DS-2DE4A425IW-DE should compare to some of the Dahua PTZ models?
And what source to purchase is recommended for the Hik?

I've got a setup of mostly Dahua 5231s that I wish to complement with a single 25xish PTZ, but I'm torn on a good bang/buck purchase

FYI my local security guy is quoting $820 AUD! bonus pricing right there, cheaper than I can find anywhere online.

You are aware it’s only a 4x zoom
When stock was available for $720 you could buy the 20x zoom

Yeah. I bought the 20x back in the day for $487 USD from Amandacams eBay.
It's amazing, but the focal length was too narrow for my scene. So I'm stepping it back some distance and going with the 4x up front, which has 90 degree view.
