How does stock of HIK cameras work? I am interested in the DS-2DE4A204IW-DE after reading this thread, unfortunately there seems to be no gery market source available that I can find. Is the camera on its way out as an old model or something?

We have the 20x 2MP version here: NSC-4A220-PTZir 2MP IP Weatherproof IR Mini PTZ Dome Security Camera 4.7-94mm - Nelly's Security

Or the newer 4MP 25x version here: NSC-4A425-PTZir 4MP IP Weatherproof IR Mini PTZ Dome Security Camera 4.8-120mm - Nelly's Security

It seems like they're being replaced by the DS-2DE4A225IW-DE
I actually just ordered the DS-2DE4A225IW-DE from an online vendor, who claimed they had it. A few hours later, they replied back that it is no longer available... seems like a great camera but is going the way of the dinosaur.

Is there yet another replacement of the DS-2DE4A225IW-DE with yet a newer model?

It turns out that the Dahua DH-SD49225T-HN is the third option. But on paper it is very similar to the DS-2EN4225IW-EN. Both 0.005Lux, 2MP, 25x Zoom, F1.6-F3.5, 4.8mm to 120mm
For the Dahua I find a lot of information here in the forum, pictures and videos. But nothing for the Hikvision. I Also like more the support and doku from dahua
The last point is the software / firmware / WebUI. I do not know which one is better or more user friendly.

Can someone recommend something or even knows both cameras?
I got the Dahua SD49225. Nice competent camera but a bit too big for the location I wanted to mount, so took it down just a day after. If size isn’t the issue for you, I’d recommend the sd49225 because it is much cheaper. Now I am looking at this hikvision camera because of compact size and stealth looking aspect of it.

Looking at getting the DS-2DE4A425IW-DE.

The least expensive I can find it branded from a USA authorized seller is $600.

Then there's the aliexpress route for just over half that cost:

Hikvision Darkfighter 4mp 25x Optical Zoom 16x Digital Zoom Network Speed Dome Ir Poe Ptz Ds-2de4a425iw-de - Buy Hikvision Ptz,Hikvision Ip Camera,Hikvision Product on Alibaba.com

Despite the claims of a warranty, I'm pretty sure I'd have to treat this as if there was no warranty and that my only protection is once my credit card dispute limit runs out in case it dies or has serious issues early on.

Wow! That price you have linked to on Alibaba is cheap. I bought an unbranded version of of the 20x zoom camera last year and it was double this price.

For sure you can forget any warranty on that purchase of Alibaba, at that price, I would even be concerned about it being legit as the price seems too good to be true.

My camera is mounted in a very bad area, which is why I have all the cameras.

If you want to see some video shots of that camera, here are some YouTube videos:

Note that price doesn't include shipping. Shipping is another $53 so basically $400 even out the door.

I went ahead and ordered one today. $411 total ($347 + $53 shipping + $11 credit card transaction fee). Supposedly it comes in the red and white retail box and not the brown paper box.

Considering this an experiment.

Also, the $600 I mentioned above for USA authorized from an Amazon seller it not true. They had to change their listing because they got busted for advertising USA warranty.

The only authorized dealer in the US you can buy from through a retail front and actually have the USA Hikvision warranty is B&H photo and a1securitycameras.com but then it's $900.

Sorka: I might give this DS-2DE4A425IW-DE 4mp one a try! How is it working out for you so far? Can you (or anyone else) attest to how loud or how quiet the servos are on this camera, especially compared to comparable Dahua models? I don't want this thing keeping me up at night with it bolted outside my bedroom window in Smart Track mode. For some reason they do not mention the Smart Track feature in their listing which worries me as this is one of the best features, for me anyway. Have any of you other guys bought one of these cams from these people?

If it gets here on time I won't have it for another two weeks :)

I just ordered the same one last night so the race is on! Your guy was out of stock but I found another seller on Alibaba. I'll let you know how it goes.

As I mentioned above, I ordered the unbranded version of the DS-2DE4A425IW-DE on the evening of Nov, 7th. It actually arrived yesterday on morning of Nov. 11th. This was less than 4 full days... from China. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the DHL truck coming up my driveway! It works great with Blue Iris 5 and it's very quiet. Its right outside of my master bedroom window and I have never heard it once even though it is auto tracking deer and elk all day and night. This was a great deal and a smooth transaction so I recommend these people and this camera!

Hello. I have a question to the owners of this camera (DS-2DE4A404IW-DE). The specs claim: "The 2.8-12mm varifocal lens delivers a 69.5 to 26.48° horizontal field of view. The camera features endless panning, a -5 to 90° tilt range, and 4x optical zoom. " So the 4MP version only supports 70 degree angle, whereas the almost identical 2MP version called DS-2DE4A204IW-DE (both have a 1/1.9" sensor) has a 90 degree horizontal viewing angle. I always thought that 2.8mm deliver around 90-100° viewing angle. This 69.5° seem a bit strange and narrow to me. Can someone confirm this?

I ordered one on Aliexpress for around 340 $ but now I am confused and contemplate cancelling my order. But the price (considering it features Darkfighter) was very tempting and I couldn't resist, so I tought I give it a try. But 70° are less than my current bullet camera with fixed lens (2.8mm).

So did you end up buying this 2.8mm PTZ. FOV actually says 90° on data sheet. :)

On 2nd thought specs do not indicate that this is an auto-tracking model. Can anyone confirm?
