    SmartPSS on macOS Catalina

Couldn't agree more. We've waited for well over a year for an update, and this is what they provide? It's patently obvious that either they don't care or have no clue how to write software for the Mac.

Ah, thanks. I hadn't checked there.

Could you provide a link for that new version please? All I see on the Dahua site is the same old version that's been there forever. Thanks!

I've done that and it appears to not do any good. I've also sent negative feedback to Lorex, which uses basically the same software, and that didn't do any good either. I'm totally disgusted both with dahua and Lorex.

So I checked - my unit is a DNR308 (part of the NVR series) running IE version 3.1.0.5, firmware level 00009. This comes from the "Info" screen on the TV interface.

It didn't make any difference in my case. :-(

That could be. I guess I'll have to dig around via the TV interface to see what firmware I have.

Well, I tried those setting and still no luck.

    SmartPSS on macOS Catalina

Yeah, except it just stays on the login page. It never switches to the main interface. I seem to recall hearing some time ago that the web interface is designed to work with a Windows browser and that some sort of plug in is needed to get it to work on a Mac. In addition to Safari, I've tried...

So, how do you get that interface to work on a Mac? I enter the address for the NVR in my browser (Safari) and get the login screen. I enter the username and password but nothing ever happens.

It's basically the same app. Originally Lorex wrote their own software for the NVR-series servers. When Apple required all apps to be 64-bit, Lorex told users (like myself) to use the Dahua app, which was written to work with Dahua as well as Lorex servers. If you look at each one, they are...

    SmartPSS on macOS Catalina

For what it's worth, I've been communicating with Lorex Technologies' tech support. Apparently they've gone back to trying to write their own app which is based on the Dahua app. They don't seem to think there's anything wrong with it so I offered to help beta test new releases. I sent them...

Well, if you own a Lorex box, Dahua wants nothing more to do with you, even though Lorex has been recommending Dahua's SmartPSS software. In fact, Lorex is apparently trying to build their own app off of Dahua's software. This is the reply I received from Dahua: Hello JOHN, Thank you for...

I thought they had someone here in the forum monitoring comments. I guess not!

Well, Lorex too. They dropped the entire project into Dahua's lap and I don't see them helping in any way. Lorex still sells devices that can use this software yet they appear to be doing nothing to support these devices on Mac's.
