Thanks, I've been digging into this and I see what you mean. I'm looking at a Vista 21IP for an already hard-wired house with window and door sensors. I like the idea of tying in glass breakage and smoke/heat/co alarms. Any comments on this system and any gotchas with buying a used panel?
Yes, builder ran a cat 5 and an outdoor electrical outlet near the AC unit on the (adobe flat) roof. If you go with the POE extender make sure your POE switch pushes enough power for it.
I always back into the garage. I glued a scrap piece of 1 x 4 to the floor where my back left tire would generally stop. When I back in, I open the door just enough to look at the back tire and get it just against the board and I am good. Never needs bulb, batteries, or any maintenance.

Get an LED flashlight or headlamp if you don't have one. Go out at night after the spiders have had a chance to become active. When you shine the LED on them their eyes will reflect back and you can easily see them and spray them. For anyone who is curious, go out at night with an LED light...
