    Hikvision camera HTTPS

Just to be clear have you created a self signed certificate on the camera? If so, what does the Synology station indicate when you try to save the video data there??

    Hikvision camera HTTPS

I ran into this same problem on this camera as well so decided to just use the Hikvision self signed generated certificate. :( Unlike the other more advanced and current generation hardware this camera had me scratching my head for a couple days! What I should have done is checked...

My camera keeps going offline every couple of hours. What do I need to check?

From personal experience in the order of the most likely causes are: RJ45 improper termination Damaged cable (tight bends) IP conflict (Static Addressing) POE port is failing, out of power, loose connection Camera: Improper configuration, bad SD card, hardware failure. Network: Firewall...

hikvision cameras lose network/reboot after I access it from app

Keep this simple, as anyone who is involved in so called (IT) would use the most common tools and solutions to identify or isolate the root cause. As you stated you have no clue where the problem lies yet nothing I’ve read shows any basic network troubleshooting?!? Ping: Run a continuous ping...

    Tanker Implosion

Every time I think I’ve seen everything. I am proven completely wrong as to what can happen and be captured by video security. I can honestly say this sort of mini implosion has been seen in my own plastic gas cans after use and storage. I’m not too sure what chemical reaction is happening...

    Busy Night/morning

I agree it’s wherever the file is stored for streaming. As yesterday the first video played smooth like butter. The second one would stop at approximately 5 seconds no matter any buffering etc. Today both video files are stop & go. I only asked because from past experience your videos are...

    Busy Night/morning

Random question in the raccoon video one is smooth while the other is jittery and stops / pauses? What’s that all about?

A dog was ran over this morning.

You and that other IPCT member always have some of most bizarre videos taken in a residential neighbourhood. That one video you have of those idiots throwing tires on the curb really had me scratching my head to be honest!

    Busy Night/morning

Can’t lie, I looked everywhere and never saw him just lurking underneath! ☹️ It wasn’t until he started moving that I could see him. That’s just crazy . . . Reminds me of a video report of that old lady cutting the grass and got snatched from an alligator / crocodile!

Does the green LED go out as noted up above? After you pressed and held the reset button for 5-20 seconds??

This is something right out of the movie Twister: Probably the craziest thing I ever seen first hand was fish, frogs, and turtles raining out of the sky?!? Had to clean my shorts after living through that! There were so many of these things all over the area they had to bring in plows and...

This is also one of those ridiculous events where people should have died but didn’t. Seeing tracker trailers sucked, lifted up, and thrown around like a kite. Giant beams going through walls like butter?!? First time I saw the so called hurricane building codes my eyes just glazed over...

Great video thanks for sharing. This one always comes to mind because it reinforces the phrase (Calm before the storm)! One minute everything is just calm, peaceful, and boring. Next, the entire world is upside down and there’s nothing but utter terror. In the first clip this guy is probably...

    Starlights with strange IP address

From past experience from others press and hold the reset switch for 5-20 seconds. If there is a green LED it will go out indicating the hardware has been defaulted to an OEM state. Obviously, you’ll try holding the button for 5 / 20 seconds to see what happens! As an aside some people have...

Preach . . . I know this path well and have been on this personal journey for what seems like forever. In my home the main priority has been achieving the lowest energy consumption possible. While balancing the family / life happiness and real world use. Having built a home from the ground...

Oh yeah pretty much everyone on the farms or old house had a root cellar they doubled as a storm shelter! All manner of creepy crawling things. The famous double door that was beveled into the ground is pretty common I’ve seen. Keep us updated as to how things unfold in that area. Hug your...

Anyone out there tried these Wago connectors?

Have been using them since they first came to market and have the first generation of them: The problem I ran into before the newer style came out was space. As others noted the ones you see in my attachment take up way more space than a marrette / wire nut. Other problems I ran into was...

What is with these extensive network racks?

Ha - You beat me to it for a link! Yes, uses PWM fan and not for a whole lot of money have the flexibility of fan control. Moves a little more CFM of air and can balance noise vs air flow. In terms of looks if that is important is way better looking!

No question for sure as with a tornado it’s coming and going at random! This was the primary reason my friend had two separate shelters built. The garage shelter was the compromise of zero notice and no time. But to get to something to protect the family. But as seen in these videos if the...

What is with these extensive network racks?

Not a bad price for an entire enclosed 1U exhaust fan that incorporates upper / lower temperature control. I prefer units that use PWM fans as this offer more flexibility in terms of sound level control and air flow management. Besides that it allows the fans RPM to be monitored in case there...

Seeing these videos every year just makes me sad. The amount of destruction and loss of human life is truly astounding. ☹️ Living in tornado alley is probably something people have to accept and prepare for. I'm searching for access control system which is using remotes or hard to duplicate rfid

It really comes down to how much financial outlay you’re committed to. If the budget is low as it is for the vast majority of consumers the options are limited. If the budget is endless as seen in Enterprise / Government then it really comes down to how serious they are and how it will...

I'm searching for access control system which is using remotes or hard to duplicate rfid

Based on your stated criteria you can purchase almost any consumer grade hardware that meets your budget. If security is truly your primary goal you’ll need to invest in a biometric system that is based on the WYH-WYN principle. Nobody serious uses a remote to access / control entry.
