What's prefer, NVR or BlueIris or Something Else?

Not for BI, I am not sure about Synology.

What's prefer, NVR or BlueIris or Something Else?

If you plan on having very many cams with Synology, take your wallet :wtf: Synology NAS comes with two Cam license unless there has been a recent change, then you pay for additional licenses.

Dahua Active Deterrence Camera to scare off deer?

Thanks everyone for all the comments. The idea sounded workable but I had to run it past the experts and the plan has been scrapped. I do have an orphan unmounted 5442 so I might look into the Wittaj suggestion.

Dahua Active Deterrence Camera to scare off deer?

Hi all, I currently run 6 Dahua (EmpireTech & OEM) cams with Blue Iris. In my location I have a deer problem, lots of deer, eating the wife's roses, vegetables, etc I was thinking of trying a Dahua HDW3549H-AS-PV-S4 TiOC2.0 Active Deterrence AI IP Camera in the hopes that the red blue flashing...

Looking for a setup to satisfy my wife's bird watching addiction

:welcome: You could set up a system for a lot less than your estimate budget of $1,000. Start by reading the cliff notes located in the wiki to get a basic familiarity of ip cameras. A Dahua (EmpireTech Rebrand) varifocal and Blue Iris Software would provide outstanding quality and results...

    PC for BI

What made you determine you need two 4TB drives? I run 6 Dahua cams, 4 record 24/7/365, 2 on motion. I get 3 - 4 weeks out of one WD Purple 4TB drive. A midtower should have an expansion slot for the dual NIC. The NIC card requires an open PCIe slot which should be listed in the mfg's specs.

Need a new camera system (noob)

It is OK to start small and build your system as you figure out what works best for your situation. I started with one Dahua/Andy 2MP Varifocal and BI, and now I am up to six mounted cameras and four still new in the box  A wise man warned me, cameras multiply like rabbits.
