@majones I have just discovered ngrok and because of it found this thread when searching if anyone else had discovered it. One feature I really like about it is the ability to share a webpage from another device besides the localhost. For example - I have a automation device that has a built in...
I haven't checked to see what else is out there recently but yes, I use mine constantly. I love that I can locally record the stream, the quality is good, and the device is affordable. I wish I could safely make more tweaks to the image settings than Amcrest allows but overall what they do...
Just wanted to follow up with my experience on using the Dahua API settings to modify the operation of the camera. It's best that you don't go this route as I learned the hard way and killed one of mine. I increased the frame rate, key frame interval, and bit rate - I had this thing looking...
You'll need a VPN to be set up. The VPN will make it seem like your device is on the LAN even when you're away from it.
One other option that is not recommended, is to port forward your cameras to the public internet. This will allow anyone to access them from anywhere.
Are you using a NVR or...
@GaryOkie Thanks for putting this info out there. Seeing the cgi-bin sparked my memory to the Dahua APIs. I found an old link to the documentation and was able to configure my doorbell to stream at 15fps/15GOP and VBR @ 2048 bit rate. Also able to tweak some Picture/Exposure settings along the way.
Maybe look into the TinyCam Pro app. I think it allows you to do motion detection within the app. This way you'll be notified when motion is detected and you can quickly get to the camera and talk through it - all without relying on the Amcrest servers. TinyCam Pro will consume extra battery and...
I don't think you'll get the notifications on the iDMSS app, NVR, or Blue Iris because they only connect to the video/audio feed using RTSP, which is just an AV protocol - it doesn't support notifications and events. I'm using the Amcrest Smart Home app on Android. A service runs in the...
Here's my personal take. I'm a little disappointed in the video but I'm comparing it to the Ring Doorbell Pro and Dahua IPC-T5241TM-AS. The wide angle lens is perfect for my location and is very comparable to the Ring Pro in terms of viewing angle. I noticed the RTSP stream is 15fps and the Key...
I just got mine installed and setup tonight. I manually added the camera using the IP/Domain settings. I also reserved an address in my router for it so that it won't jump around on me. Make sure you're using the device password and not the Amcrest account password.
Regarding placement - Cameras that are high up are only good for determining what happened and when. They don't help for finding out who did it. I have some really cheap cameras on the eaves of my 2 story for a general overview then high quality cams at the places I can get good facials. Read...
Nice work, sounds like the pull cord helped out a lot. I would have done it the exact same way - pulling a new one in as I pull the old one out. Saves a lot of headache in the future if you ever need more cables.
POE is good for at least 328 feet. 140-160 ft runs shouldn't be an issue unless...
@fenderman is right, most cell providers do not allow internet traffic to make connections to the cellular devices (At least not without an expensive business account with static addresses and in some cases private APN's). Basically all cellular traffic has to be initiated from the cellular user...
I seen on another post that the IPC-HFW5431E-Z5 is delayed until the 14th. I'm patiently waiting for a review. Hopefully @nayr doesn't have too much going on at home & work when this arrives. If it turns out good I'll definitely be in for 1.
Your disclaimer makes me think of all of the drug commercials nowdays. May cause:shortness of breath...internal bleeding...frequent urination...seizures...depression haha. I'd love to have a WD Purple. I'm glad I purchased extended warranty on those crappy seagates. I replaced 2 of them in the...
The layout of this property is odd (see the attached image). We've get people thinking this is a thru street all of the time and turn around; probably 10 cars per day. I've contacted the city to see if they will install a speed bump and additional signage but no luck yet. Will likely be doing...
Yes I reached out to the city, street department, police department, and my neighbor. None of them had anything better than what I had. Their cameras only captured blur, had a wider field of view, or were not recording.
No way, just a cheap 640x480 Foscam. I've used this one (and others) to trigger the higher quality PTZ's to various presets. (Unfortunately I didn't have any of this set up last night)
I agree with fenderman however I've read that you must uninstall all versions of the MS C++ distribution before installing the latest. Do this at your own risk though.
I have the SD29204S and do not have a 'Backlight' menu within the 'Conditions' menu. My lighting compensation settings are on the Exposure menu.
I've noticed most people mentioned to use the "default" option. While default likely would have worked for me too, I noticed my Slow Shutter settings...
Found the issue with my IR this evening. Got out the fluke 175 and diode checked the IR LEDs. They passes. Ran continuity back to the main board (I already tested that it was outputting 12vdc) and found a wiring pin connection out of place. Fixed that and now my IR works perfect!
As expected...
Sorry to bring up an old thread with so much hate in it, however I have some questions that I couldn't find answers to, and it seems @Cldblucky isn't wrong. I recently upgraded BI and noticed this feature missing as well. It didn't cause any issues as my system is appropriately sized, all of my...
So I was able to make the IR work temporarily, I'm not sure how though. I thought it was the length/quality of twisted pair but nope. Now I'm able to get the IR to turn on, but they won't brighten anything past the 3% setting. I'm looking for other user's suggestions or feedback of what may be...
I just got the DH-SD29204S-GN in today, started playing with it. Really nice camera. I'm struggling with IR though. Is there a way to manually turn it on? I've only seen the red LED's on once since I've been playing. Moved it to a pitch black room hoping the lack of external light would trigger...
At one of my sites I occasionally get the "grey IE screen" you mentioned in the first post. I have this problem when the cameras are on a slow network or have a poor wireless connection. When the cameras are within good range or plugged in I never have this issue.
Now that you have reset the...
