    September 2021 - BI App vs UI3

Hey, I'm trying to find a comparison between the BI App and UI3 in Sept of 2021. I'm currently using UI3 on my phone and it works pretty well. I want to try out the Android App, but its $10 and has very polarized reviews in the play store. Are many people using the app? And how well does it work...

tinyCam Monitor for Android and Blue Iris support

On Tinycam, does the app pull the jpeg / stream for all cameras loaded in? So if i have 3 cameras on one page, and another 3 on a second page, does it continuously load all 6 cameras? Or just the 3 on the page i'm viewing?

Had my cameras up for a week and already caught a thief on video...

Haha there's an idea. I really like the turret style camera. With them mounted in the soffit They are difficult to see if you aren't looking hard. Not sure of that's good or bad

Had my cameras up for a week and already caught a thief on video...

Yeah I hear you. The victim saw the truck and person. They just didn't have a picture. So this helped them know what they were looking for. No idea if the suspect still had the property in the truck

Had my cameras up for a week and already caught a thief on video...

Yeah, thankfully it's very unique. What's funny is when i looked at the snapshot I thought to myself that it looked odd.... We live in a gated community and I'm very familiar with most of our neighbors cars. This was not one of them. A couple hours later I saw the Nextdoor post.

Had my cameras up for a week and already caught a thief on video...

I just started getting my surveillance system up and already have video of a suspect. I only have 2 of my cameras up and they are just my overview cameras. I'm still waiting to get those awesome varifocal cameras to zoom in to the street where i can get LPs. A neighbor a few streets away posted...

    I made a better remote-live-view page [OLD]

Awesome. That's exactly what I wanted to do. I'll just use the default jpeg streaming. That works perfectly. Thanks for your work on this.

    I made a better remote-live-view page [OLD]

Is there a way to change which streaming profile it uses? For example I want it to stream at a very low quality so as to not use too much data, and then I can change the streaming quality to a high profile if something is there that i want to actually look at?

    Dropping frames / skipping ahead

I will definitely look into that. I'm going to end up with 6-7 cameras. Is there any downside to having an 8 port POE connected to a gigabit switch which is then connected to the router as opposed to getting something like a 16 port switch with 8 poe? I need to be able to connect a computer...

    Dropping frames / skipping ahead

Thanks for the reply. I was trying to diagnose this remotely so that wasn't going well. But once I got home I put the cameras and the computer on the same switch. That helped out with the frames dropping. But then I was having a very unreliable connection and wasn't able to remote in to it. So...

    Dropping frames / skipping ahead

Hello, I have a dedicated BI computer i7-3770 with 8 gig of ram. I have 3 Hikvision cams connected to a BV-Tech 8 port 10/100 POE switch and a wifi Foscam ip cam. Computer is wired directly to ATT Router / Modem (Pace 5268ac). BV-Tech swich is also wired to the ATT Router. The videos are...

    Front door camera placement

Thanks for all the input. I think the plan is going to be mount it on the side wall, turned 90 degrees, about 7 feet high. I'm going to try and figure out if i can run it through the brick and into the attic or if i'm going to have to mount it on a junction box and run it to the attic through...

    Front door camera placement

nayr, thank you for the reply. I thought that's what came with it, i just wanted to make sure! tangent, looks good no matter who put it in :) and i was pretty sure i needed the junction box, just wanted to double check. I guess if it's high enough (8ft or so) it would be too big of a deal...

    Front door camera placement

tangent, that install looks great! I really like the painted mount that makes it blend in nicely. I'm guessing you went through the wall with the cable? Also, yes I am going to put a camera above the garage (where it meets the house). I plan on putting 3 cameras on the front of the house in...

    Front door camera placement

Can those cameras be rotated 90 degrees or do they have to be mounted perpendicular to get the 90 degree rotation? And would you think the green placement (on door frame) would not work out? I actually spoke with Empire today and will be on the next round of stock in early mid March for the...

    Front door camera placement

I'm trying to figure out where to mount the camera at my front door. I have a narrow brick entryway that leads to the front door. The ceiling is about 14 feet high so that's not an option. The door is 96 inches tall so it's not a normal height door. Camera will be small turret style camera with...
