Wow! There are still good people among us!

I have 2 in the car and 1 in the house (double glazing near impossible to break without). I had always intended to buy one but when I needed to spend more on Amazon without Prime for postage, I made the difference up to get free postage with these. I have 2 of the liife hammer type - 1in the...

Wow! There are still good people among us!

Pity no-one had a fire extinguisher in their car. Probably wouldn't have put the fire out, but might have helped reduce the intensity during the rescue.

    Malware in EmpireTech IPC-Color4K-T webplugin.exe

I used the plugin as I couldn't see the cameras in the web browser. Had no issues although I uninstalled the installer plugin immediately after installation. I scan malware & virus free over multiple apps so I wouldn't worry too much provided you get it from the official source. The most likely...

Interesting AI software - CSi Style Face Recovery Possible?

Not a recommendation but I found some interesting software via a video on Youtube that might be good for our purposes. Whilst it has a video version, which I find less impressive, the stills version appears very impressive at face recovery form even dark and pixellated images. I have to wonder...

    Malware in EmpireTech IPC-Color4K-T webplugin.exe

As said in one of the earlier threads, if you're worried submit the installer to one of the reputable AV companies for analysis. Tell them in the narrative that you believe it downloads malware so they don't just check the installer alone. I'm sure it will probably come back as a false positive...

Residential cameras for exterior- bullet vs turret

The wiring tails for these cameras are very large and I struggled even to get them into a junction box. I'd hate to think of trying to do it without. I'd suggest mounting it onto a junction box for that reason. It doesn't add much to the camera visibly but will make your life a lot easier. Also...

    Arjun, where are ya?

Something you never think about normally, but I wonder if they put an earth quake proof base on the SOL? Would make a real mess if it fell plus be a really bad symbol for the US. I'd also hate to think about the repairs / scrapage of the SOL given the height the top would fall as it's one of...

Burglars run after getting fright on their life

Just a couple of comments on re-visiting this thread: 1. Re_Watching the original video, the audio warning took far too long to activate. A lot of theives would have broken a window and been in the car before the warning activated. 2. I wish Dahua put speakers in all their cameras. Either...

    CodeProject.AI Version 2.0

Sorry I won't touch it atm until I get some backup software for my BI PC. Everytime I've upgraded BI or CPAI and there's been an issue (which has been quite a few times), I've been forced to re-install the entire pc including Windows. Too much of a pain and hassle to risk having to do that. It...

    Camera Water Issue

Condensation comes down to dew point which is beyond anyone's control. Basically there is a temperature humidity combination at which point moisture stored in the air condenses out onto surfaces. This is the dew point. If you look at your local weather forecast, it probably states the dew point...

    Camera Water Issue

Dahua should look at putting in EDPM seals instead of rubber which is what I presume they're using. Unlike rubber it doesn't deteriorate. My Pond liner went in my pond 40 years ago and is still going strong despite 40 years of sunlight, water, temperature changes etc. Many plumbing seals are now...

    CodeProject.AI Version 2.0

I abandoned Coral for CPU processing sometime ago. It just sits in my machine although I may revert later if it proves worthy. I very much get the impression from the varied results that this is something to do with the installation rather than the device. Some users have reported less than...

    The Power of Bitcoin

Seems a bit too precisely written. Very AI like. Must admit BC scares me too much to invest (not that I can really). Not the volatility so much as the risk of losing everything if your password doesn't work, drive corrupts or fails etc. With banks etc, at least you can recover a lost password...

Is a Core i5 6500 Rig Still Considered a Feasible BI Platform?

For a hierarchy chart: https://www.cpubenchmark.net Choose the High End Chart as this covers processors right down to early i5's and even the odd i3. Remember performance may differ on different software.

Why are people buying 4K Dash Cameras? They still perform poorly in dark

Not all. the 4K Viofo A139 Pro is brilliant in the dark for a dashcamera. It has Sony's Starvis IMX 678. Performance is better in my opinion than the 2mp Viofo A129. I've had both. That said, nightime will always be difficult for a dashcamera as fast movement requires a fast shutter which is the...

Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-PFW5849-A180-E2 - Dual Lens 180 Degree Full Color 4K (8MP Stitched) Camera

No. Here you're paying for a bigger sensor. If you want to see at night pretty much you're going to be using IR and B&W unless it's the 4k series (with some light - even the 4k series can't see in total darkness or very very low light). The nearest alternative is the 5442 series but they don't...

    EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-AS-S3 Privacy mask ?

I wouldn't worry so long as it masks. The newer camera just have a black square that you can draw over an area. I actually prefer this as it doesn't look as if the camera has failed. But either way, provided it masks the area in way whereby people cannot be identified, that's all you need.

    Dahua high power consumption?

I'd still use a power plug. The switch itself will use power and you don't know how accurate the switch reporting is. Also, don't underestimate how much devices might use. My BI pc which is only an i5-11400 with no gaphics card uses 50-60w with Windows 11 in normal mode and around 40w in power...

POE Switches will use power as well. A power measuring plug such as this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B085S7Q1T4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 ...might be a good way to get an accurate measurment although it depends if parts of your system have been hard wired which...

If it's poly carbonate, there are plastic polishes on the market that might enable scratches and uv fogging to be polished out. As for glass, low iron glass is the clearest although I'm unable to comment on suitability.

    1/2.9" vs 1/1.8" vs 1/1.2" Camera

The larger each pixel is, the more chance of it being struck by more than 1 photon. More photons = stronger signal. Sensitivity is also dependent on the composition of the pixels as I understand it. Over time, the CCD substrate probably becomes more sensitive as well as advancements are made...

    1/2.9" vs 1/1.8" vs 1/1.2" Camera

    Dahua API and active deterrence?

Good link but why don't they just say somewhere to output .wav fomat at 32000kbs sample rate? Personally I'd rather use an App I know such as Audacity as it has far more audio adjustment possibilities beyond pure conversion.
