Adding a speaker to Amcrest POE IP8M2796EB

Depending on the voltage of the camera and whatever speaker you want to add, you might be able to avoid needing another PoE line by using a splitter, as described in this post: https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/using-ethernet-splitter-for-two-cameras.70282/#post-773033 However, it might be far...

Are there any A19 form IR light bulbs for night vision?

Thanks for the reply... and yes after looking into all of this a bit more, I think they're directional for a reason, it would probably be a lot of wasted energy just lighting up everything. Also I think some dedicated IR lights for cameras auto-run only when it is dark, but other regular bulbs...

Are there any A19 form IR light bulbs for night vision?

I tried looking online for some infrared A19 form light bulbs, and not sure if I just was not using the search terms, or if they just don't exist? I see some IR lights that are A19 but they are like warming/heat lights, I don't want that. I recently got an Amcrest IP8M-T2669EW-AI and it is...

    Did You Vote Yet?

I'm in Texas, we got this (fake Hispanic) clown Robert Francis "Beto" O'Rourke running for Governor on them Dem side, the one who infamously claimed "Hell yes!" he WILL take our AR-15's. So I voted red all the way down that ballot, FOR SURE! Cameras are great to dissuade people and for...

Why did they remove the "show disabled cameras" menu button??? How to get back a disabled camera.

Thank you! For some reason, just one of those days, I wasn't seeing that option in there. I guess they moved it there. That does help and is better than having to find and mess with the settings of the cameras in the Status > Cameras window.

Why did they remove the "show disabled cameras" menu button??? How to get back a disabled camera.

Of course, I had to bitch about this and THEN I found the solution in one of the last places I looked. If you click on the "status" icon that looks like a stock market graph, then you can see all the cameras you ever set up, including the disabled ones, and get to their menus that way. I'm...

Why did they remove the "show disabled cameras" menu button??? How to get back a disabled camera.

OK, I recently paid to upgrade BI since I hadn't upgraded it in about a year or more. Previously, when I was tinkering with a new IP camera but it wasn't mounted where I wanted it, I would disable that camera to hide it from my normal view list, then right click on the screen or a camera and...

Any hope for this AliExpress Shunchen camera?

Most of what I am finding is talking about security risks, LOL. Maybe I will call this one a loss and buy something more reputable next time... but I ain't trashing it yet so if anyone knows settings it will work with let me know.

Any hope for this AliExpress Shunchen camera?

Yeah, in IE only it says, "Please install IE ActiveX: IE_Plugins.exe from CD or download from internet". The site it is trying to download from is xmsecu.com which seems to be a risky site, according to my browser or addons. Chrome and Firefox don't ask for that, they show an alert in Chrome...

Any hope for this AliExpress Shunchen camera?

No, in this case it definitely was trying to connect to the internet. But, in any case, I'm not going to be installing custom things just for this cheap camera. More just wondering if anyone else got it to work with Blue Iris with different settings, or if someone has another camera recommendation.

Any hope for this AliExpress Shunchen camera?

Okay so I have some nice larger turret cameras have worked out great. But for a certain installation point between attic vent boards, I wanted a much smaller camera. Didn't need to have IR lights so this seemed to fit the bill. Product link (which supposedly had good reviews): US $25.5 12%...

Anyone tried this? HDView Starlight Color Night Vision, 2.8-12mm, Sony Starvis

After thinking about it more, I like this so much for the price, I was actually considering getting another one of these. However, I see it is now "currently unavailable" on Amazon. Might be due to corona virus impacting the supply?

Anyone tried this? HDView Starlight Color Night Vision, 2.8-12mm, Sony Starvis

This evening I noticed that part of the live video feed that had dark shadows appeared to have the pixels "dancing" or flickering around a little while it was in Starlight mode, shortly before it auto-switched to IR and BW night vision. So it seems to auto detect when it needs to use IR mode...

Can anyone recommend a small IP can for this spot between vent boards?

Thanks!!! Those are small and would work I think. Funny enough my very first home security camera was in that same form factor and size except it was straight to video feed (with adapter for bnc coaxial wire) not an IP network connection. despite not being very expensive it lasted over eight...

Can anyone recommend a small IP can for this spot between vent boards?

Ok, so I'm not sure if they even make anything this size in an IP type of camera? I'm looking for basically a very small and narrow bullet type camera, which could give an overview from an attic vent area (already have cameras lower for identifying purposes but wanted a bigger picture of front...

Anyone tried this? HDView Starlight Color Night Vision, 2.8-12mm, Sony Starvis

By the way, thank you for figuring that out! Kind of lame and that you have to log into that website to see their prices (I haven't bothered trying yet), but it is good to know what the original model is and also great to see that they sell compatible junction boxes there in case I can't find...

Anyone tried this? HDView Starlight Color Night Vision, 2.8-12mm, Sony Starvis

Thanks for your additional review! Where I've been using this I needed zoomed all the way out so I didn't really look at the clarity of when it is zoomed in very much but it is obviously optical and I see that you were also able to control the optical zoom with blue iris later in your updated...

I can say that there is no Audio at all on this camera, no audio listed in product specs, or present in it's default menu settings. I can drill a small hole in that caulk at the bottom, good idea. Want to keep it small though, we have these stupid wasps and mud daubbers around here that love...

Ok, so here are the images of how it looks installed along with the image of how it doesn't have screw holes that line up with the junction boxes I have been using for Dahua cameras. One bit of good news is that it does not seem to be running hot at all right now... So I might speculate that...

Anyone tried this? HDView Starlight Color Night Vision, 2.8-12mm, Sony Starvis

OK, so I installed this thing today outside on my front porch. The zoom can be controlled by Blue Iris, and when you zoom in and out, it also auto focuses after the zoom is done. There is also some little door on the camera body you can open to adjust the zoom and focus manually according to...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

I don't see anyone talking about it yet, but since I live in San Antonio, I'm going to mention this... https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/02/cdc-released-a-woman-in-texas-who-tested-positive-for-the-coronavirus-totally-unacceptable.html I am honestly ASTOUNDED at the ineptitude of the CDC!!! They...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

I live in San Antonio, TX and I will say, I'm thinking it is a REALLY BAD IDEA that they're releasing those Diamond Princess cruise ship passengers today after only 14 days in quarantine here. It is proven the incubation can be much longer so why not keep them longer?? I'm sure many of them...

What kind of video recording system do really large buildings use?

Wow, and even after they bite the bullet and buy all that, I am sure the "license" is very expensive too! So yeah the cost for 60+ cameras must be big bucks indeed, crazy. Thanks for the info. Makes my personal home Blue Iris system seem very economical :D

You're welcome, I'll update this again with some screen images once I've installed it outside. Not sure if I'll get around to installing it this weekend or not. But here are some close up images of the camera itself and the potential temperature issue I measured. The specs on the listing say...

OK, so here is what is up with this camera, from my initial tests! First of all, obviously it looks different than Dahua cameras, but I can say I am pretty sure it isn't Dahua, the UI is something totally different. I do not have enough experience with cameras to say what else it might be if...

What kind of video recording system do really large buildings use?

OK so that should have been obvious but I didn't really look too close at the cameras before today. So today I took a slow walk down the hall and looked up close at the camera, and I could notice that the small little dome cameras there have an "Axis" logo. After knowing that, I am guessing...

What kind of video recording system do really large buildings use?

I didn't see any obvious branding on the cameras, but I haven't gotten too up and close to them. These commercial solutions sound interesting, probably fun to work on setting up those systems. Heck some of the security guards at the front desk are friendly, maybe I will just ask them what...

Yeah, I've seen some decent Amcrest turret options, but they're usually 6MP or 4K and I want less resolution so I don't bog down my processor too much. Unless you can set them up to output less resolution? I'm not sure if that gives the same fidelity and performance as a native 2MP camera though?
