Can't move IPC-E32241F-AS-M to different VLAN

So, as strange as this issue is, it seems to go away when I connect the camera directly to the L3 switch. There's no good reason for that as trunking is correct as is VLAN assignment and port VLAN labeling. But for now, at least it looks like the issue is identified. I think I'll spend the...

Can't move IPC-E32241F-AS-M to different VLAN

Hello, I am currently preparing to deploy several new cameras into an existing network 8x IPC-Color4k-T 1x IPC-T5442TM-AS 1x IPC-E3241F-AS The network contains a router/firewall, one L3 switch, and one L2 switch. All new cameras are setup with the following process: 1. Attach camera...

Camera placement recommendations for new-to-me home

Thanks for the suggestions! I do have a doorbell cam planned for where you have one the right-side blue dot, and have a package-cam planned. But I'll relocate it based on the recommendation of "eye-level" near the left blue dot so that it can play double-duty of "face-cam" and "package-cam" -...

Camera placement recommendations for new-to-me home

Thanks, I did mount a camera on a pole to do some testing at my current house, but unfortunately I don't have the luxury of time to do it for the next one. I'll need to take my best guesses and live the results. I had a mini-dome wedge planned for the packages on the front porch but hadn't...

Camera placement recommendations for new-to-me home

@Webfont @wittaj @The Automation Guy I did manage to find a new app that provides a trial for up to 5 cameras - not sure if it's well-known around here or not: IP Video System Design Tool - Video Surveillance Design Apps | JVSG I've spent a lot of time trying to figure this out - hence the...

Camera placement recommendations for new-to-me home

Thanks for the response and insightful questions - and tolerance to my ignorance. I managed to get a poor quality satellite pic from Google Earth - sorry it's not better, but the best I could get. The yellow outline is of the property. The red outline is the garage. Goals: Be able identify...

Camera placement recommendations for new-to-me home

Hello, I'm moving into a new-to-me home and would really appreciate the hive-mind recommendations for camera placements. I'm attaching 3 diagrams including recommendations from installer #1, installer #2, and my own ideas. The house is located on a quiet street and lighting is fairly poor, but...

    Eyeonet, anyone?

Thank you all for the advice! I'll be skipping his cameras and getting Color4K-T's and T5442's, mostly at 3.6mm so I can get a bit more range in exchange for a smaller FOV.

    Eyeonet, anyone?

The last time I did this I had them do the runs and mounting, but I bought and supplied the equipment. I was hoping my new contractor would be better at this than I am, since they have done so many more houses. I have asked for the detailed plan, but have not yet received it. I am quite off-put...

    Eyeonet, anyone?

Yes, the contractor has agreed to install any equipment I choose. I just worry that if there are issues he'll point the finger at me. For some reason, he hates Dahua. I bought the system in my current house from EmpireTechAndy, and it's been great, except for the occasional camera drop-out...

    Eyeonet, anyone?

Thank you both for the research and responses... not what I was hoping for... it definitely casts doubt on the subcontractor (and the contractor, too). If anyone has any first-hand experiences with the relabeled product, they would still be much appreciated!

    Eyeonet, anyone?

Hello, I'm working with a general contractor to renovate my new-to-me home, and his surveillance sub-contractor has recommended a brand called Eyeonet. I can't find much information on it anywhere (including these forums), but he swears that these cameras out-perform Dahua and Hikvision...

IPC-T5442TM-AS Support in Synology Surveillance Station

I just received my IPC-T5442TM-AS and *seem* to have gotten them working using the latest firmware and the [ONVIF] selection instead of Dahua Generic. Firmware: IPC-HX4XXX-Volt_MultiLang_PN_Stream3_V2.800.0000000.10.R.191118.zip Note: I have only had a chance to do 5 minutes of testing, and I...

    Review-Dahua IPC-HDW2231RP-ZS Starlight Camera-Varifocal

Thank you so much for checking! I only have a drop down for 0 and 180. I'll try changing the firmware.

    Review-Dahua IPC-HDW2231RP-ZS Starlight Camera-Varifocal

I recently purchased a HDW2231R-ZS (not sure if/how that's different from the HDW2231RP-ZS, but they seem to both be referenced together in the Wiki), and can't seem to find a way to put it into portrait mode. The settings show options for "Mirror" (on/off) and "Flip" (0/180), but "Flip" doesn't...

Using vari-focal camera to determine focal length of fixed-focus camera (revisited)

If your sensors are the same size and geometry, I think you should be fine doing a direct focal length comparison. But I don't think that's possible with different sized sensors. I think this explains it better than I can: Understanding Focal Length and Field of View | Edmund Optics Instead, I...

Using vari-focal camera to determine focal length of fixed-focus camera (revisited)

Or, perhaps a simpler way of describing the problem... Is the 2.8mm fixed lens on the IPC-T5442TM-AS (1/1.8" sensor, 4MP) extremely close to the same zoom and angle-of-view as the 2.7mm setting on the IPC-HDW2231R-ZE (1/2.8" sensor, 2MP)? or is the 3.6mm fixed lens IPC-T5442TM-AS closer?

Using vari-focal camera to determine focal length of fixed-focus camera (revisited)

Yes... essentially, it's the same formula as the calculator provided by @Mike. But it doesn't seem to take into account when the cameras being compared have different sizes of sensors.

Using vari-focal camera to determine focal length of fixed-focus camera (revisited)

Thanks! I didn't know about that calculator. But I'm not sure it fully answers the question... I'm trying to use a 2MP 1/2.8" varifocus camera to determine the focal length needed for a 4MP 1/1.8" fixed lens camera. Are the MP and sensor size irrelevant in the calculation? I can imagine how MP...

Using vari-focal camera to determine focal length of fixed-focus camera (revisited)

This is my first time installing cameras for my home - thanks to all those who provided advice in my original post: Newbie Request for Camera Recommendations (pretty detailed) I purchased one IPC-HDW2231R-ZE to do some testing in multiple locations and found that it worked very well. I'd now...

Newbie Request for Camera Recommendations (pretty detailed)

There is no regulatory restriction - it's just that I need to get the cameras installed (even if not perfectly) within the next month and I wouldn't be able to do proper testing until next summer. We all have compromises we have to make; this is the one I have to make. So, still hoping to find...

Newbie Request for Camera Recommendations (pretty detailed)

Thank you! Testing is going to be almost impossible to do in advance of mounting it. It's just a restriction I have to deal with. Thanks for the idea re: the tree. I didn't think about that blowing out the picture. I'll also play around with the camera calculator some more. I think I chose...

Newbie Request for Camera Recommendations (pretty detailed)

Where is the best place to put the camera for the left side (left when looking at it) of the garage relative to the coach light, so that it doesn't cause lens flare or other issues? Is it better to be above or below the light? Should I aim to be as far to the corner as possible or be just to the...

Newbie Request for Camera Recommendations (pretty detailed)

Thanks for the ideas! Do you have a suggestion as to which model of camera for each location? BTW - it's not visible in the picture, but there's an entrance door into the basement under the porch overhang.

Newbie Request for Camera Recommendations (pretty detailed)

Thanks very much for the reply! I've attached some pictures. The red dots represent planned camera placements, but I'm open to other suggestions. I am a little concerned about the one by the garage due to potential blockage of the view by the bay window, and the potential lens flare caused by...

Newbie Request for Camera Recommendations (pretty detailed)

Hello, I'm a newbie, but I've been reading the forums and doing research for well over a month now, and I'm still stumped as to which security cameras to get and I'd really appreciate some advice. Budget: about $200 per camera (just for the camera). Less is better, but I'm flexible if the...
