Because it covers a front door and a corner. If people wants to, they can demolish everything, but I'll capture their face before they do. If I installed it higher, then it's too easy to hide your face under a hoodie.

Hi forum, Is there any way to do both continuous recording and motion detection in Synology Surveillance Station? Just so I don't have to look through my entire footage to determine when something happened. I'm using HIKVision cameras if that's relevant to the question.

Oh and side-question: Why do you not set your FPS to the highest possible? Is there something to gain there, when it comes to reviewing footage?

Had a Logitech Circle 2 installed outside before, but damn that thing is bad. So after I've installed a few Hikvision cameras inside, I decided to install a few outside too. This is the first of what's probably gonna end in 3. Think I did alright.

I don't use any of the Surveillance Station features, as my cameras record 24/7. I didn't know that I could sell the license again though, that makes the expense a little easier to swallow.

Surveillance station and Blue Iris, which I also got, is super easy. But Surveillance Stations becomes expensive when you have to buy the licenses and Blue Iris requires me to have a server, as my Synology isn't strong enough to run the software in a docker or VM.

I'm glad you told me that. It's just my normal routine when I get a new piece of hardware since usually they add some new functionality or similar. But I'm not having any problems with the cameras so I'll just leave it be. Thanks!

Hi forum! New to this forum and new to using IP cameras. I just got my second Hikvision camera, a DS-2CD2463G0-I. Now the first thing I always do with any hardware is to go look for firmware updates, but there didn't seem to be any for this model. Am I right or am I looking at the wrong place...
