use an ssd for the os, blue iris and the blue iris database 1tb is overkill...256 is plenty

Has anyone seen a failure on a normal drive? Ive used a normal seagate previously in my last NVR which was on solid for 5 years and never had an issue.

No but if you're going to buy a drive to dedicate buy a purple Drive... All drives can fail... These drives are optimized for reading and writing video feeds..
