I just bought and finished installing the basic 4 channel Dahua N42B1P and an N44CL52. This is my first foray into IP cameras. As an IT professional, this is one thing I've never dealt with.
The camera is setup to watch a portion of the backdoor and backyard. It is powered by the PoE switch built into the NVR and on a separate subnet. I'll be buying two more cameras to watch the front yard/door and the driveway once I get this figured out.
Is there some reference material that is a walkthrough for everything from:
How to make sure it's actually recording
Playing back recordings and being able to zoom in on portions (to recognize/identify people)
Properly configuring IVS (the main reason I bought equipment from the same manufacturer)
Getting alerts of activity
Being able to view the system remotely
Making sure the equipment isn't phoning home to China
I have an Asus RT-N66U router/firewall which I understand should make VPN pretty easy. Any help/links/pointers would be greatly appreciated.
