A recent update:
Improved responsiveness to motion with managed decoding (limit decoding unless required
on camera settings Video tab).

This feature used to lead to terrible motion detection results, but with this change it seems to work rather well (in my short testing) leading to reduced CPU usage. Anyone else seeing positive results?

Agreed. I have 26 cameras running (total of ~1,300 MP/s) and without "limiting decoding" on some of the less important cameras, the CPU (i7-7700 @ 3.60GHz) hits 99% when too much motion is detected simultaneously and sits at around 84% on average. However with "limit decoding" selected on 4 or 5 cameras, CPU drops to less than 50% - up until recently I have not used this, as too much motion was missed. Very happy it is working now.

An additional note to anyone experimenting with this feature: be sure to use one keyframe per second (match fps with iframe interval) as the help file recommends for optimal motion detection functionality.
