those extenders are great. i've used em. but yeah, a single PoE port may not supply enough power for more than 2 cams (especially for PTZ or with IR on.)
solution is a PoE injector and larger power supply (say eg, 60w @ 48v) at the switch end.

for splitting a single run to only 2 cams, these work great:

Thank you for reminding me of this requirement bro...all of my cameras run on IEEE 802.3af/at compliant switches...but I will triple check this when I get to work on Monday. Thanks again. View attachment 37803
If you're using a managed switch, you can probably see the power consumption per port.

I have to do this too, but it has to be all-metal, any suggestions?

I built this project box to use as a weather-proof POE extender inside my Feral Qat Shelter®. I utilized PG7 glands to pass cable into the box to the POE extender. A single cable carrying 802.3at is input into the extender which allows (up to) four (4) 802.3af outputs (the docs state 4 @ 6W, or 3 @ 9W, or 2 @ 12W). I intend to power two (2) Dahua IPC-HDBW4231F-AS mini domes inside the shelter with this unit. The project box is rated IP65 but it will be secured inside my Feral Qat Shelter® which is always dry.

I'll post more when I get it cabled up and running. Here's the pictures and the material list...

old thread bumb. any issues with the OdiySurveil(TM) 4-Port 10/100M IEEE802.3at (Power-in) to IEEE802.3af (Power-Out) PoE Extender for Ethernet/PoE Power ?
looking for something like this, but dont really need 4 outputs. could get away with 2 outputs.

have seen numerous ones on amazon etc, with some negative reviews that have turned me off.

any issues with your set up? any issues after a power outage. some of the 2 bangers said it didnt work great, as both ports turned on at the same time, and couldnt get a new IP address assigned quick enough?
