OK to fill in @alastairstevenson we had a phone call. Turns out network range was a problem. Network is configured for 192.168.50.xxx. So moved one of the new Hiks to that range and login was successful.
Can't see video due to browser plugin thing we all deal with. Maybe someone can help on that. It is Firefox on a Mac. But config page is available.

Hello again all,
First off, I'd like to express my gratitude to everyone but especially NoloC. He gave me a call and after at least an hour on the phone we got one of the cameras working. YAY! And as it turns out we worked in the same industry and had several mutual friends and business associates. What a small world!.
Since that phone call I downloaded the plug in for safari from Hik and now i can see the camera with my Safari browser! Another YAY!
So I don't feel a need to find a solution for firefox. But I'm not out of the woods yet.

This camera has a motorized zoom lens. While that might be nice, I don't think its critical. Can any one tell me if I can open up the camera and manually adjust it. Currently its full wide and I need it to be very tight. I understand i will likely have to manually focus it...that should not be a problem.

Another challenge is to access this camera via the iphone. In the past I used iVMS 4500 for this purpose, but I was not the one who set it up.
I reviewed the iphone app store and there are at least a dozen new/different versions of ivms. Can anyone recommend an app for iphone, it doesn't necessarily need to be a hikvision solution.

Lastly but perhaps more importantly, I need to harden my security to prevent what happened with my original camera. NoloC has recommended
using an OPEN VPN. My understanding is this feature is built into my ASUS Router AT-RC86U. I understand I will also need an Open VPN app for my iphone. Again I visited the app store for an Open VPN (client?) app. But I was overwhelmed by all the options. Can any one recommend an app, or point me to a knowledge base where I can study up on Open VPNs for my application?

At this point in time I have the two new cameras working and have started a new thread regarding the Hacked camera.

I loaded the SADP software and I can only detect the two NEW cameras. Both listed as inactive, along with their current config data.
Whilst admitting that I don't know the difference between OSX and Mac OS - it might be worth seeing if the Mac version of the Batch Configuration Tool can see the China region camera : Tools-Hikvision

Don't even try to manually adjust a motorized zoom lens. Use the camera's web interface to control zoom and it should autofocus when needed.
