Manually assign IPs and don't assign a gateway. They will only be able to talk to devices on the same subnet.

Turn off the noise filter under setup/audio and see if the static is still there. It could be a result of the noise filter trying to decide what is sound and what is background to be filtered. If it remains, look for things rubbing near the camera or wind hitting the mic funny.

2 has no IR lights, 3 has the IR set for auto.

I ordered mine last week and it arrived today. Wow. For fun I decided to try color mode at night, I had to look out the window to verify it really was dark out. I'm highly impressed.
