I'm sold. Axis even endorses Google Chrome on Linux exactly what I was looking for. Just curious, what happened after 2021? Just no more updates published?
Does Axis cams allow modern browsers to connection to access all camera features without special plugin's unlike Dahua which requires a virtual machine running a 13 year old unsupported operating system and browser?
After extensive time installing combinations on 6 of my cam's I found 1 download that works with 5 of them. The 6th one that doesn't work will need a FW update to be the same as another of the same model which does work.
I appreciate the feed back, SOLVED.
I've needed to regress to running a VM with Win XP and IE8 and it works fine. One thing I need to keep repeating is that every time I log into a camera, every month or so, I'm prompted "Please click here to download and install the plugin" instead of viewing live video. I'm then prompted to...
Both of your solutions don't address the configuration of IVS Events. On my Linux box I've had to install VirtualBox, Win XP and IE 8.0. Being someone who is anti-windoze it's painful to have to resort back to them for a solution.

So did they remove in your Edge: Settings > Default browser > Allow sites to be reloaded in IE Mode?
I just lost the ability of using the Easy Viewer extension for Chrome so this is my last tool for configuring my 8 camera's from what I read.

I won't be in the position until next year with shot-gunning this problem with possible later firmware versions. I'll just turn off my weekly camera reboots...
I verified I was using IE on my Win 10 box. I changed back to 264 hit Save 3 times then Refresh. It stuck at 264. After reboot it switched back to 265.
@wittaj,
I was doing this on a Ubuntu box with Google Chrome. I took your advise and switched to a Win 10 box with IE and same problem, H.264 didn't "stick".
@MyDaHua,
I will try resetting to default and recovering from there when I get a change. As you mentioned very time consuming.
Hi Guys,
2 of my 8 Dahua cameras keep defaulting back to H265 where I need H.264 to be compatible with the Home Assistant plugin WebRTC. I don't remember having this problem with other video parameters in the past. Assuming this isn't a firmware bug specific to a model is there something I'm...
Browsers are not part of the discussion here, Again, but maybe I need to re-word, Keyboard, mouse and monitored wired to the NVR4108-4K2S.
Now I did just update to the 3-19-20 firmware from Andy's link. After update and reboot checked newly recorded video recorded after the reboot, same thing...
