Server 2012 or Win 10 for BI?

Currently, I'm running BI on an old server with an X3440 and Server 2012. Just picked up an I5 6400, 16GB RAM system and move everything over then eventually upgrade to an i7 6700 once the price drop a little then do something else with the i5 6400. OS will be on a 240gb SSD and recording will be on a 2TB HDD with nightly data backup to a NAS.

I have 12 3mp cameras and don't see it going beyond 14 or so.

Since I'm not using any server grade component I'm thinking about keeping Windows 10 on there and install Server 2012 in a VM on the same machine. Any reason not to take this approach?

Blue Iris requires a lot more resources when you run in a VM because it can't use Intel Quick Sync Video... Also know this from first hand testing...
