I am not understanding what happens by setting different image settings. Profiles available are; Day/Normal/Night. I set each profile as I would like image to appear but after saving the settings and waiting for the camera to AUTOMATICALLY switch from Day to Night mode, it switches, IR comes on but if I log back into the camera the profile still shows Day. Isn't it supposed to be on Night? Read all the help docs from Dahua and there is no explanation.

You have to setup a schedule in the cam setup telling it when to change profiles. It won't do it automatically. Sorry, don't recall what tab that is under.

Too bad they don't have a simple latitude dependent sunrise / sunset calculator built in :(
I was thinking about that too however, the camera is so light sensitive that being that close to sunrise/sunset isn't that important. To me anyway. Perhaps a FW update will include it.

Damn, now i know why it wont work out like i thought it should. But I still don't understand why you can set a profile for full time or "normal", would end up in the same... i hoped I configure day and night and when selecting normal it will change automatically between day and night with the light sensor. the schedule would only fit for people next to the meridian :p

If you use BlueIris you can switch day/night profiles based off sunrise/sunset.. Also you can switch them w/API Commands externally if you have a home automation system..

IIRC, in BlueIris.. IR On is actually just the Night Profile, and IR Off is the Day Profile.. so you can even switch w/flip of a button, or schedule it.. Or you can setup Day/Night profiles identically and wonder why that button wont actually do anything (common issue)

Actually i don't use BI. I just tested it a day, but you'll need a lot of cpu have it running all your cams. That's the reason why i decided to get the NVR. In Europe we go green to save the environment :D
My embedded quad-core wouldn't rock BI but fits for every other thing. The API might worth further investigation. Already us home automation. But of course this requires me to access the cams API from the automation central and the cams will be behind the NVR. Sounds I'll have to hook up one PoE of the NVR to me main-switch.
