I was thinking also motion sensor lights...trigger the cams or the cams just recording 24/7 w motion detection trigger to switch modes or something like that...but assume having the cams switch from IR in the dark to color when lights come on and getting proper exposure\focus may take too long and miss your money shot maybe?

any setup where the lights have to come on is going to have a delay while the camera adjusts the iris and all that and you could miss the shot, guess you have to decide if you want to take the chance.

definitely would take too long, was testing it last night.. I can leave it in color mode with lights out and when I turn on security lights it adjusts instantly.. but if I switch from b&w to color its gonna take a few seconds before u get a visible image again.

Gain Priority is an AutoExposure that prioritizes gain levels, in this case a low gain level.. gain == noise, so if you reduce the gain the image will get dimmer in exchange for detail.

I thought about scheduling it to run in color til midnight, then switch it to B&W when the security lights shut off.. but I think I'll get intrusion detection working well enough even w/the lights out (thanks to street lamp) that I can flip the lights durring activity as I planned.

This is such a nice camera. Damn it @nayr why are you forcing me to spend so much money, once I order my first one of these its going to be all downhill from there. Well once I spend myself out of house and home with these cameras at least my cardboard box under a bridge will have excellent video coverage day or night.

here's the final install:
IMAG0748.jpg

because of the siding I had to make a platform out of some of the composite board I had left over from the birdhouse, a Louisville slugger would have a fuck of a time doing any damage here with the big lag bolts and vandal resistance on this camera.

yep, the last shots showed where the precision iris on the ultra really helps the photon gathering process.. here are two back to back shots w/no IR in wide angle.

and again w/only the pathetic IR from my back patio 4300S to light things up (lol)

Anybody know which kind of firmware is installed on this camera ? I'm not able to create the CSR, there is no option for HTTPS in 'Network' (you can enable the HTTPS with its own cert, but on dahua 'User manual' seems possible create your own ...)
Cheers,

only the NVR have I seen the capability to insert your own certs through the WebUI.. without telnet access on this model we cant get in either to change them, would needa get a firmware file from Andy then see if you can use the firmware mod kit to insert your own cert files ontop of the existing ones.

just run a https proxy infront of it at the edge of your network if your needing that kinda stuff IMHO

some color porn, largely to drive @hmjgriffon's anxiety even higher.

These are my night running settings, not tweaked for a photo op:

for those of you unfamiliar with the various states of snow; this is what we call powda
Mine should be here today! Are you having the camera run the day and night profiles on a schedule? I am debating on if I want to do that or not.

im running mine on schedule, I found with my new bright lights leaving it in color mode at night w/SSA on dont help at all in gain priority mode, so daytime is shutter priority w/SSA and night time is gain priority w/out SSA

Are you doing full color all night? I need to try out those gain priority, shutter priority, and how all these damn settings work together lol I guess just experiment changing settings until it looks the way I want.
