I heard monoprice is good, but do they have sales often, or is any day as good as the other day to buy it?

I better check in the box, what CAT 5 is lying in the attic. I am sure it is CCA :)

thanks @fenderman and @nayr @Ryan00

Maybe you should have a computer nerd verify that the router is being over run by the cameras. I don't see how that would be unless you are watching them remotely maybe. The POE switch should contain all of the traffic. I'd also be interested to maybe see more pictures of how this stuff is hooked up, what NVR they have, what cameras they have, etc.

Mmmmmm yes for security cameras cat5 will work . However if your going to go though the pain to pull wire I would just use some good cat 6. Pulling wire is one thing you only wanna do one time !

Ok here is the ISP modem it is a PACE 5268 FX ACN modem

so:

1) the two wires I have crossed in a red X are related to the cameras and come from the adaptor like thing (see below, marked with an X)

I believe one of those wires going into one of the adaptor comes from the NVR which has 6 cameras connected and then the white wire with the X goes into one ethernet port at the back of the modem

The second wire which goes into the adaptor comes direct from the PoE switch, so I do not think it goes via the NVR, I I am confused

The green wire going into the router is the DSL wire from the ISP I believe.

I will post a pic of the NVR next

xx

looks like they had some sort of professional install or something. why did the technician say you needed a new router, are you having issues with anything?

the technician was from the ISP, the camera guy was some private dude who did a half a88 job, I think

the ISP technician suggested I get a router for the cameras, as the load was 90% on something on the ISP router, I can ask him for the technical terms

he gave me his mobile number :) ;)

so @hmjgriffon what do I do? How do I correct this setup? What new router do I get to reduce the load on the ISP router?

First you need to verify the actual load on the router you have, not sure if your level of computer use, there should be a web page you can log into from a web browser to tell you. I'm not near the computer but if you have the cameras go to the Poe switch, NVR box also going to Poe switch with one cable from switch to router then one from router to ISP all should be fine, if you are not experiencing any issues surfing the internet or with the cameras leave the router you have now alone. Just plug in new cameras and configure it needed on the NVR.

I presume the cameras are connected to the wi fi in order to view the cameras remotely?

do I need to get a separate wi fi account for the cameras?

wifi has ZERO connection to viewing remotely...

You should be able to view them from any computer in the network, wireless or plugged into the Poe switch, the NVR should have a login account setup, what brand cameras were these?
