I have been logging all data on port 402 for about 3 weeks. This morning my camera lost its network connection and can no longer be pinged. Here is the end of the log file.

Power cycling it won't bring it back online but I can tell its pulling PoE power.

What firmware version is that?

It's a pity the debug info isn't time-stamped.
AutoReboot_Loop 1454: 2017-01-03 03:02:56 week 2##
One could speculate that the scheduled reboot isn't working properly.
That's the default settings for autoreboot, the 3rd hour of 3rd day of each month.

3516A_IMX178_W_6.1.44.2

I lost my video feed at 01/07/2017 08:00:45 which doesn't seem to correspond to the AutoReboot time. If I can get it back to life I will make sure to create a time stamped log.

OK, so it's maybe not related to the auto-reboot.
I assumed as that was the last entry that there was a link. Despite the camera not including a timestamp.
But maybe more likely is the reboot closed the telnet connection, so no more entries.

Seems like Cicely is out and Arial is in at Longse: arial@longse.com

Thursday edit:
Seems like I'll be e-mailing Arial tonight. The camera stopped sending video sometime last night, barely a week after it being re-installed. It still pings, and accepts telnet requests, but doesn't respond over HTTP: in any way, shape, or form.

i guess im lucky with the 5mp model, since 3 of them are running already for about a year without any problems.
i did ordered some other models which most of them are "broken" or bricked even when not using them only for some tests.
one has problems with sometimes disconnecting, only able to ping and thats it, the other does not respond at all, etc etc.
And at longse they are willing to help, luckily shipping back is not to expensive but still for new out of the box camera's that arent working.
nice to play but not for securing a building or whatsoever , i mean the models i have bought.

Would i buy another 5mp imx178 cam again, call me ignorant but yes i would since i haven't got any problems with the ones i have and the image quality is the best compared to the most camera's in the same price range.

The dahua 1080p starlight has just as good if not slightly better image quality in low light...during the day you wont miss the 5mp at all either...plus you get motorized varifocal, SD card slot, and built in mic. All from a reliable brand.

Thanks for the post, i haven't been looking much into cams i must admit.
Will see into these models, i don't really care about 5 or 10 mp, the night vision is what i like of these cams.
I will probably order a dahua model for testing, can do a nice comparison with these to see what is what.

Has anyone with the stream loss issue tried the reset button inside the unit? I would try myself but the cameras are two stories up and would rather hear from someone with easier access.

and a documented HTTP API, and working Daylight Savings Time, and Mobile/Desktops apps, and multi-browser support, and Intelligent Video/Audio Analysis, and H265 Support, and real WDR, and a 720p Substream, and MJPEG Legacy Support, and 50/60fps ceilings, and a metal chassis, and low/high temp ratings, and more form factors w/external audio&alarm options avilable, and they dont cost that much more shipped 3-day delivery from China.

did I miss anything? probably.

If only it had presets it might well be nearly perfect View attachment 14314
then buy a PTZ :p

Ive tried to setup scripts to automatically zoom in/out to emulate presets, but too often the autofocus wouldn't land perfectly and id have to either try autofocus again or manually focus it... I'm not sure how well presets would work even if they did add them, would also need the same level of focus detection that PTZ's come with to be reliable enough for any kinda automation.. it can be worked around though if you send in a known focus point after autofocus is completed.. but there's alot more software in a PTZ than a varifocal.. as long as you dont expect the varifocal to work like a PTZ w/out the pan tilt you'll realize this is how all varifocals work, except with a motorized one you can do it remotely and thats way better than a manual one that requires you have a large portable display and partially disassembling the camera while installed.

Yes, it works. Is your camera on firmware 3516A_IMX178_W_6.1.44.2?

Are you saying it resolves your issue?
Prior to 3516A_IMX178_W_6.1.44.2 my camera would lose its video feed with the following symptoms:
1. I could access the web UI.
2. Live feed and settings page would show a solid black box where video should be.
3. Any attempt made to modify settings would result in a save failed message.
4. The hardware reset button would fix it.
Now that I am on 3516A_IMX178_W_6.1.44.2 this no longer happens.

My camera will lose it's video source after about two to three days, making the weekly reboot capability ineffective. I've since put an old-school 24-hour timer on the POE switch that powers the camera, and it now cuts power every evening and reboots the camera.

such a shit solution.. *sakes head*

you know you got problems when one camera's shit results in all cameras going down at the same time.
