Last times buys (sent via epacket; other seller) didn't get caught by customs clearance and were pretty fast on delivery. (13 days)
What are your experiences with DHL shipping methods?

I always thought that DHL is fast, but always have to pay to import camera's that come from countries that are not part of the EU or US

just buy it from @EMPIRETECANDY through the forums using Paypal.
Still haven't figured out exactly how? (I expect other members are shaking their heads...)

I'd only be willing to provide a largely redacted ID and shot of the card, just to show they are the same names and shipping addresses.
Today I provided a largely redacted ID, payment card and statement as requested.

@cosmo Yea man, once you're rejected on Ali there's no way to fix it. I went through the whole shabang, even sent my card and picture ID scans against my better judgement, but still get rejected every time. I literally tried a dozen orders and all were rejected.

Here's what I do now.. Just message whomever you want to buy from. Most of them will send you a paypal invoice and you can just pay that way.
So I might be out of luck with my attempt at providing ID. So when you say "message", do you mean start a private conversation in this forum with @EMPIRETECANDY (I've done that twice - no response) or message Andy in AliExpress (Also done that. No reply either).

I must be the only one. Seriously. Very frustrating. About to seek out another vendor as I'm getting no response. Yes, it's the holiday so I'll wait a while.

I think I saw in another thread where Andy posted (post was last Friday or Saturday) that he would be back at work on 2/4.

Found it. Last post here. Dahua Starlight Varifocal Bullet (IPC-HFW5231E-Z)

Haha even if they did respond right now I doubt they'd be able to ship anything.. Just gotta sit tight until they're back!

Latest Firmware: DH_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_Eng_P_Stream3_V2.460.0000.2.R.20161216.bin
Code:
Optimizations & bug fixes:
1. Repair the network security vulnerabilities
2. Optimize smart codec effect
note this is PAL firmware; if you've got a NTSC this will make it a pal.. Ive installed it on both my turret and bullet w/no problems.. YMMV, proceed at your own risk.
Thanks for the firmware link. I now have this installed on both of my new cams.
Just an observation, with Hevc/H.265 enabled I still cannot export video to the mp4 format, only to native dav format.

Hopefully a new update will enable this as I don't like having to re-encode video and I'm assuming there is no tool that allows you to demux dav format video ?

The pfb203w housing worked out great. Only thing is the driveway cam faces west and gets some sun showering down on it in the afternoon. blanches the video slightly but still clear. Does the IP67 rating mean it can handle this especially in the hot texas summer?

The auto-iris should keep your sensor from damage due to direct sunlight and also keep it from ruining the image, it'll probably get better as summer comes along and the sun gets higher in the sky.. I keep my varifocal zoomed in a lil extra in the winter to keep the sun out of its view and will widen it back up here in the summer

the IP67 rating is an ingress rating; which means that it is fully protected from dust (6) and can also withstand being submerged in 1m (about 3.3 feet) of static water for up to 30 mins (7).

Operating Conditions are: -30° C ~ +60° C (-22° F ~ +140° F) / Less than 95% RH

as long as you dont paint it; it should survive most anything Texas can dish out.. short of gunfire, refinery explosions, and tornados/hurricanes.

awesome thanks. I am locating a point for a backyard cam. a wall mounted patio light in the picture causes the rest of the scene to kind of darken in the background at night. if the patio light is not in view this does not occur. is there a way to avoid this while that light is on?

yeah dont put it in view like you already discovered, heh.. screws with auto-exposure having bright lights in view and a fixed exposure is hard to nail down outside w/a dynamic environment, you gotta use day/night profiles at least.

no need to watch walls/doors/windows/lights.. watch the approaches to them and your golden, the wall is not going to do anything and is a waste of good pixels.

Glad I did not drill any holes yet. I guessI was trying to get the door to see it get smashed in but the light is not helping.

your normal security system should be fully aware if your door is smashed in or not; pls dont rely on video surveillance to replace the need for actual physical perimeter monitoring.. its an additional supplemental and independent layer, not a replacement.

you need notifications that are 100% reliable anyhow, and thats pretty tough to obtain w/video alone.

I already installed sensors on every door and window and have motion detection inside and have an alarm service. I was thinking more along the lines of catching them in the act of breaking in not using the cameras as my primary alarm system.

You do send alerts for motion detection events I presume?

I have no alerts on basic motion, far too obnoxious.. I'll get push alerts off physical sensors like doors opening.

you still dont have to see the door to get someone knocking on it or kicking it in.. they aint going to shimmy along the wall and do some kill bill punching through a coffin shit.

consider hardening the door, most will open with a size 12 boot..
