Off topic but if everyone goes with turrets what are you guys doing for motion detection? I'm thinking of ordering a zwave PIR to test out, or maybe rig a door sensor to a regular PIR

RTFM, specs indicate the PTZ draws no more than 23W of current.. This camera can take both 802.3at (PoE+ @ ~48VDC 25W) or 24VAC.. If you dont want to run a separate cable for power then you need PoE+ Power Supply.. either in the form of a Midspan/Injector or Switch.

When you rectify a 24VAC down to DC voltage everything gets cut in half.. internally its going to cut that alternating current in half and spit out 12VDC, and in that case the 72W of 24VAC is now 36W of 12VDC

Yes it should work with both PTZ's and Fixed Cameras.. its PoE+ with up to 30W per port and a 96W Ceiling.. Ive got 10 cameras, several VoIP phones and Access points running at about 100W at night (3 PTZs) so I think this could handle 8 cameras just fine as long as they are not all big honkin PTZ's.

Not quite. 72W is the maximum power the AC adapter can supply, the amount used on the other end by these cameras is much less.
A half wave rectifier outputs Vpeak/pi, a full wave outputs 2Vpeak/pi neither of which is half the input voltage (Vpeak is not RMS). With RMS voltages it's sqrt(2)Vrms/pi and sqrt(2)2Vrms/pi for half and full wave. For a 24Vac rms supply that's either 10.8vdc (half wave) or 21.6vdc (full wave). Circuity in the camera steps it down and regulates it.

The power rating of the supply might get cut in half in the case of the half wave rectifier.

That just means the supplied AC adapter is 24vac/3a. Actual power consumption will be around 13-23w + a bit for various inefficiencies (transformer, wire, dc converter). If you really want to know plug the transformer into a kill-a-watt.

Just powering it with PoE+ is easier.

Wow! Can't believe that I ordered the SD59225U-HNI on Sunday (02/19) and it arrived today (Wednesday 02/22). I've never received a shipment from China that fast before and wasn't expecting it today. DHL called me to make sure I was available to sign for it and it was delivered 5 minutes later. Now that's fast!

just be patient ,its going same route like my 5 starlight 5231 cameras and 5216 nvr ..it takes little longer for us because like you said no tax and vat ...its same for me:Label Created On:15/02/2017..
only if you choose fast dhl route would be hit !!

Mine came by DHL, so I wonder if I'll get a surprise bill in the mail from them for tax or import duties? Or do you normally have you pay it at time of delivery?
