Hello all

I have a DS-2CD2342WD-I 12mm and it is the first time is use it today.

In day mode no problems but in night mode the camera doesnt see the infrared light ... the IR light is turned on but in night mode nothing at all , its very very dark ...like if the led was off

I have the same camera DS-2CD2342WD-I 4mm and no problems.

12mm are differents of 4mm in term of settings ?

I have tried to install a HIK DS-2DE5220IW-AE PTZ in the same direction , the DS-2DE5220IW-AE see the infrared led of the DS-2CD2342WD-I 12mm but the DS-2CD2342WD-I 12mm see nothing ...what can be the problem ? distance ?
i have tried with all kinds of settings wihout success ...(picture below).

To me, it doesn't appear the IR is on (i do realize you indicate the 5220 picks it up)...but have you physically gone outside and seen the IR on the 12mm? And to rule it out have you gone 'System Service' to make sure it's enabled (see attached)? I don't recall if my 2342 has a reset button...regardless perhaps fenderman is right if the above doesn't resolve anything...

I believe in theory the physical reset button (although i don't believe the 2342 has one) works the same as the Default button under Maintenance.

Reset button - all parameters, including user name, password, IP address, port number, etc., will be reset to the factory default settings.

I'd bet that @fenderman is correct in that the IR cut filter is stuck on.

Even with the IR LEDs active, as you have seen, with the filter stuck on, the IR will have no effect.
No amount of resetting will fix that.
Give it a gentle tap on the side - if it's stuck, it may move.
If nothing changes, the IR cut in the camera or the driver for it's actuator, may be faulty.

When it switches to night mode do you hear a "click" coming from the inside? That's the IR filter moving.

Last attempt...is your 'Day/Night Switch' under Image>Common set to 'Auto'?? Do you hear a click when you manually switch it from Day to Night?

take it down, flip it upside down from how your normally mount it.. power it up, force it to B&W mode then slap it like it just insulted your mother.. force it back to color mode, wait 10s, force it back to B&W, rotate it 45 degrees or so and repeat beating up on it until you hear it click.

sometimes the filter gets stuck or bound up internally.. it is a moving part, and eventually all such parts fail.. the trick is locating which direction it slides in and out (could be left/right/up/down or any combination of the above) and giving it a lil help

I will try to unmount the camera it will be easier to make some tests day night switch is set to auto but i have done test with Schedule time.

What is strange is that recently I have encountered several big problems with different HIK cameras on which I have updated the internal fimware to get the new V5.4.4 build 161125

The first problem with DS-2CD2642FWD-I was that after the update, the camera no longer switched to night mode automatically I had to force manually otherwise everything was black ... after a hard reset with the internal switch all worked again ... with A software reset nothing at all ...
So there is a difference between a reset to zero with the pushbutton and one with the interface.

Now i have the ir cut problem with DS-2CD2342WD-I 12mm and i have an other problem with DS-2CD2T42WD-I8 all is ok except sometimes the professional NVR tells me that the camera was disconnected several times during the day for a duration of about 45 seconds

Very strange ...

hello

the problem is solved !

I followed your recommendations by giving a slight slap to the camera and it works perfectly thanks to all :)

The only thing is that I find that the image is blurred maybe it comes from my mind I do not know, what do you think?
