The Dahua NVR's that a lot of us are ordering via Aliexpress----is the the original firmware that would ship if purchased elsewhere such as here in the US? Or is it of another language and translated to English. How do we be sure its genuine and is not a modified firmware? Are we able to head over to Dahua's website and manually load the firmware into our NVR's and updates become available?

When I had my old analogue CCTV system I was using a Dahua DVR and now on IP still using Dahua just an NVR instead, only difference I can see between the two is no branding on the web interface, simply comes up as "Web Service". I do know that @nayr loaded official Dahua firmware on his which he also purchased through @EMPIRETECANDY, so I don't see any issue.

Not sure what is US models or International models, just same as described on dahua website. Till now just 2 guys camera broken and already taken back to fix, insend them the labels , easy for everything don't think too complex and too dangerous. PayPal a great company, we all trust them if you not trust me. Lol. You just test them when they arrive, easy~

Thanks again for your understanding and assurance Andy! First time ordering experience can be quite a ride it seems :) It feels great though to be ordering directly from the source. I look forward to sharing my experience with everyone here soon. Can't wait to finally set this system up and move on, haha :D

You are going a million miles per hour here.. Man, have a drink and slow down - I know IP cams can be fun and exciting but your just flying along with posts and questions which is caused some what by confusion. Take some time and review the forum and exsisting popular dahua threads, I believe you'll feel more comfortable and understand things a bit better :)

As it relates to Dahua firmware, you are confusing HIK and Dahua. HIK is who has different region hardware, firmware, etc that you see AE selling which in some cases can't be upgraded. Dahua does NOT play region lock games, buy Dahua on AE or buy Dahua from someone in the US you will receive the same hardware and both can be upgraded as needed.

There is more then enough feedback and examples to justify the hardware coming from @EMPIRETECANDY here. Their really isn't a reason to question what he is selling.

Also, don't be a "firmware whore" :) just because a new firmware comes out don't feel like you have to jump on it. Once your system is configured and running as desired don't update your firmware unless a security issue is addressed or some "must have" feature is released.

Dahua only knows CHINA or REST OF THE WORLD.
If you have a china device it will only work with chinese firmware, rest of the world device will work with any firmware.
However with the correct knowledge one can also patch the rest of the world firmware to work with chinese devices.
As far as I've seen Andy only sells rest of the world devices.

The reason why Dahua is differentiating the markets is so they can charge overseas customers more for the same product.

Got my NVR5208-8P-4KS2 up and running last night. Attached an HDBW5231R-Z to it without issue. Pretty straight forward after reading and researching here.

My GUI doesn't look like some recent examples. I assume I'm on older firmware? Everything so far works fine though. I'm aware of the pros and cons of firmware upgrades, but I'd rather have the latest features. I perused the Dauhua site for the newest firmware, but haven't found it yet and I couldn't stay up any longer.

Here's an "older generation" screen shot of the GUI. I set it up on my TV so I couldn't capture it with an Alt-Print Screen.

That's not older firmware you're just using the OSD instead of the web interface. They look completely different.

I bought an NVR5216-4KS2 last July that came with an earlier firmware version than 3.210.0002.2 7-21-16. Everything worked pretty good except my non-Dahua cameras (Cantonk) would not work at H.265 (they work fine at H.264). Also, during playback, the "Fast1-4" settings were not very smooth and the fastest (Fast4) was really not very fast. After recently upgrading to the newest firmware, happily the playback is very smooth and the fastest setting gives an approx 10X speed (1 minute plays in about 6 seconds).
