Nayr,

I see you are the resident experts on the Dahua's. I am looking for a good camera with facial recognition at about 15' for both day/night. I currently have a Hikvision 3 MP 4mm and at > 8-10' I am not impressed. I am looking for a turret/dome (the round ones), any suggestions. Thank you in advance.
IPC-HDW5231R-Z is the best, if dome, can use HDBW5231R-Z, but nightvision not very good due to the dome.

Do you guys have motion spotlights do they interfere with your cameras at night?

My 5231's washout when the lights come on and it triggers my blue iris motion alerts.

I am about to order IPC-HDW5231R-Z, but I wonder if it is shipped faster if I order through Aliexpress or through Andy directly? Anyone having any experience with this?

If they are in stock, it's two days to the US, no matter what path you choose. I've alway preferred Paypal as my credit card hasn't been vetted on Ali Express.

He states he has 410 pieces available to ship by next Wednesday, anywhere in the world.

I'd suggest changing that to two if you can. I ordered one at first, then changed a week later while I was waiting for them to get in stock. SO glad I did. I ended up ordering a 3rd when I ordered my NVR as well.

Gets real pricey real quick... But as soon as you hang the first one your gonna kick yourself for not having at least one more!

Was that not considered as a valid alert? I mean it sounds like your motion spot light sensed something.. Maybe just not what you wanted.

Haha... I appreciate your advice, but considering that 2 days ago I didn't even know what PoE or PTZ were, it's safer if I play it easy with the first one. Maybe I'll even go after one of the big ones with 25x or 30x zoom after playing with this one first and getting to know features and limitations.
It's not so common having a bunch of cameras on homes in Norway, and it would look pretty awkward for neighbors seeing Fort Knox in their neighborhood. :)

Yep, I'm waiting for a response from a conversation started 3 days ago. I'll be patient but when ordering cameras it's hard to do.
Patients ran out after reading the above posts. Sent a second request. Waiting to see.......

So, my cameras were running fine until yesterday. All of a sudden, I can't access ONVIF on one of my cameras and I'm not seeing a stream. I see the camera on my network but when I enter the IP Address I had assigned it, the setting menu no longer comes up. I tried disconnecting it from my POE Switch to see if maybe that was the issue and nothing. Even power cycled my router and switch but still no go.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to access my cam?

I've got some hdw5231r-z's coming in and I'm curious what most people are using for their NVR solution on here..... Does anyone run their Dahua's on BI and not have any problems? ....
I (and a few others here) have been unable to get my 5321s to work properly with h.265 in BI. Ken from BI did try to take a look at it which was great but no resolution. I was really looking forward to using the better compression but so far I have not found a solution. I do not have any other Dahua camera models yet so not sure if the issue is isolated to this one or not.
The android app on my phone and tablet works until it doesn't, meaning it often just shuts down either immediately after opening or randomly when viewing live or recorded. No idea why.
Other than that BI has been great. I have not scratched the surface of all the funcionality it has available.

Yes, when the motion lights turn on the picture will be overexposed until the camera has time to adjust the exposure. I used to have a motion light at my entrance, but with LEDs I prefer a dusk to dawn sensors (and the motion lights I had would always stop working properly after a few months). Now that I have cameras at the entrance, having the extra light makes the Starlights stay in color mode even at a decent shutter speed (I do leave the cameras in auto mode for color/B&W in case the lights are off for some reason).

depends on many things.
Moon light, street/city lights, stars.
Test a few different nights in the month (ie moon phases) with your lights off and camera set each way.
These cameras are great at low light gathering, it just depends on how many sources there are and how much they provide in your mounted location.
Hmmm Being "star light" cameras maybe someone from a dark cold area with lots of stars can give us a true report. o_O:)

Just a comment on the durability of these cameras. I dropped one about 5 feet onto concrete and it still works fine! Yes the case is scarred and lost some paint but camera work. Impressed so far!
