Hello everyone,

I have one Hikvision DS-2CD2542FWD-IWS camera that somehow allowed the incorrect firmware package (before Hikvision changed the layout on their US Download website) onto this model of Camera that was supposed to be for another model of camera.

I have tried to use the TFTP recovery program to load the proper digicap.dav firmware file that is for the camera, but I never get a success message after the TFTP program transmits the firmware file to the camera.

The camera currently is stuck with the IP address of 192.168.1.64, which I read somewhere on these forums that its in minimal system mode at this point. I have tried to directly connect to the camera by web address (http://192.168.1.64) and tried telnetting into the camera, but with no success.

The latest firmware file the camera had was version 5.4.0, for a different model, before it bricked upgrading to the correct model, 5.4.5 firmware. Also, I can say for sure that this camera is a US one. I didn't see any 'CH' letters in the serial or model number

Thanks in advance

Without knowing what files you have tried, here is a selection for the camera model:
The firmware 5.4.0 and higher has a feature aimed at preventing downgrade to a lower version.
DOWNLOAD PORTAL
Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co. Ltd. (7th one down)

What does SADP show for the status of the camera, specifically the firmware version?
Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co. Ltd.
The Software Version that I see in SADP is V5.4.0build 160401. I would also like to mention that the firmware page that you linked to me was one that I haven't seen before. When I called in Hikvision for support, they told me to use hikvision.techusa.com for firmware upgrades.

However, none of there firmware files past 5.4.0 would work for me from their techusa site. I tried using the TFTP recovery procedure with the firmware files from the DOWNLOAD PORTAL that you linked and to my surprise it was successful in updating my bricked camera!

I will avoid the hikvision.techusa.com site for firmware upgrades from now on. I never knew that the firmware files were on a different hikvision site.

Thanks a bunch!
