Just received a follow up from SeaLevel on my 120 POE. Very nice folks! American made and tech support local as well. He popped in to look around here on the site. Would be awesome to see a representative to field questions on here for us. I am 100% happy with my purchase.

Somehow when I was reading the title, I thought I would be seeing a thread about camera captured time lapse evidence of sea level rising..

Hello Group
I've been working with the 120 POE for about a year now and have a few observations. Sealevel has several utilities for the PC and the iPhone that are very useful when working with the e120. SeaMAX for the PC and Mod+ for smartphones. Secondly BI4 has an issue when a trigger event is too long in duration eg multiple hours. In older revisions a long trigger will cause BI to freeze. In current revisions it reports an error and ignores further trigger inputs. This behavior may take several days to manifest and I have no clue as to what causes it.

This bug has been reported to "support" and Ken is probably working on it. Keep the duration of triggers modest and there are no issues

Haven't had any issues like that. I'll stay in touch if I do have anything crop up.

Talked to soon! Jinxed myself. View attachment 17859
Hi HD
Too soon to panic. You probably have BI looking at e100 " contacts" that are active in the default state. Remember that BI doesn't like a trigger input that lasts indefinitely long. At some point it will output an error code, only one per event. Use the SeaMax utility to figure it out, doesn't work with BI running however. I don't know why but that's the way it is.
Good Luck

I've only had that error once. So far it has been pretty rock solid. I did send all my logs to Ken if it could help him any. We were out doing yard work all day yesterday. No issues with constant triggers.

Hello, I have just purchased a SeaLevel 8206. I have the driver installed and I can see the device is reading input applied via a test rig I made, so it is working.
I can not figure out from the help file what setting to put in the "address" field in BI.
I go to Blue Iris Options -> Digital I/O -> Sealevel Systems and Check the box.
I have a USB device so I select that
The Address defaults to "SeaDAC Lite 0". I am at a loss on what that address should read because when I go into the camera properties that I want to trigger, got to Trigger, Global DIO input bits, I set to 1 as the input into the I/O is in slot "0". I apply 12v and it will not trigger... I looked for the proper thread to ask this but couldn't find one.
Thanks for your asst.

It's been awhile since setting mine up. I can't remember if I sent 12v in via the "c" on the sealevel device or not. I have the poe 120 and it was pretty much plug in play. Used the sea level program to set the ip address and ran with it. Disappointing so far with my pir's. The leaf covered tree limbs blowing in the wind trigger quite often. I'll have to go to the attic soon to see how I have it setup. It's 90 here. So attic temp is going to be insane.

I seem to have it all triggering properly within the software for Sealevel. I just can't get Sealevel to talk to Blue Iris

I;m about to bite the bullet and get a Sea Level. My switch is POE so is the (eI/O PLC-8) the one I need?

eI/O Ethernet to 4 Optically Isolated Inputs, 4 Form C Relay Outputs Digital Interface Adapter, with PoE (Item# eIO-120PoE)
Hi Ada
That's the right one, e120. With the latest BI revisions there are no operational negative issues. The only negative is the $179! There is one testing issue that I wish wasn't there. The e120 cannot connect to two hosts at the same time. This is only an issue when testing. You cannot use any of the Sealevel utilities with the e120 while it is connected to BI.

I have a stupid question. I have a Sealevel POE120 and some PIRs. I can get the Sealevel inputs to trip when I apply a voltage across. But the PIRs don't output a voltage when tripped. So how do I wire things up to get the Sealevel to detect motion from my PIRs? Thanks

you add power...

The sealevel device can handle 5-30V. The PIR probably wants 12V to power it. All you need to do is connect the +12V to one of the PIR relay terminals and the sealevel to the other. Connect 0V (negative) on the same power supply to the C terminal on the sealevel.

All you need to do is connect the ground on the 12v supply to one of the PIR relay terminals and the sealevel to the other. Connect +12V on the same power supply to the C terminal on the sealevel.

Thanks - that makes the Sealevel recognize the on/off motion states. When there's no motion, I measure a voltage (slightly less than the 12.0V from the power supply) across the Sealevel input and Common. During motion, I measure a couple volts across the Sealevel input and C. Is it ok that there's always some voltage across the Sealevel input? I clearly don't understand circuits and I can't measure the (presumably) tiny current draw. I guess I'm wondering if there's some resistor heating up inside the Sealevel and whether this is somehow "bad." I suppose this is just common within electronics and I should just move on...

For what it's worth, I found this from Sealevel:
How should I connect an optically isolated input and voltage supply to a dry contact output? - Sealevel
This provides a similar solution except they say to put +12V to Sealevel C and the -12V to one of the PIR relay terminal. In this scenario, I measure 12V across the Sealevel input and C when the PIR is idle (and 0V when PIR detects motion). I guess this just means the voltage drop is occurring across some other resistor within the PIR?

This is actually from the manual for the 120e

notice the circle with the + and -, that's a power supply. Connecting the + side to the c terminal seems to be their preferred approach, but it states "5-30VDC Non-Polarized" which means it should work either way. Opto-isolators typically only work in one polarity, so generally you may need to pay attention to polarity. Some types of digital inputs require pullup or pull down resistors, but not opto-isolated which actually depend on a small amount of current flow instead of simply measuring the voltage.

As to what you observed, I think it's a result of the way they chose to make it work with either polarity. However, I would switch it to the + to com configuration they recommend. I don't think there's resistance inside your PIR, most are a simple relay like an on off switch for their output switching the com terminal between normally closed and normally open.

I also shouldn't have referred to the negative lead the way I did (edited now, but it was the middle of the night), it implied a negative voltage instead of ground or 0VDC.

Also note, some models of sealevel products have different types of inputs.

I just bought a Sealevel 120 POE and I am also super impressed.
Installation took 2 min.
When you connect Sealevel to the network, login to you router and search for the device and lock the assigned IP.
Then in Blue Iris, when you select Sealevel option, BI will automatically find it and you can try the triggers from the app and Sealevel will click (you will hear it).

I plan on connecting it to my garage door and open/close the garage door from the App!
