I have a few of these installed, with one more on the way: https://amcrest.com/amcrest-3mp-poe-video-security-camera-ip3m-954e-black.html

The Amazon reviews are very favorable (and my experience matches that...so far). I'm curious if anyone has experience with these, since they are fairly new. I plan on adding 2-3 more PoE cams, but am open to comparable cameras if there are better durability/reliability options to consider. If the ones I have installed now continue to work as they do now, I would be very happy, but I also like options.

Thanks!

The amazon reviews are a fraud - people paid to give reviews etc.

The customer service from Amcrest aka Foscam.US is shocking. You can see on the support forums for Foscam and owners here that they have decided to simply not honour warranties on their models. I wouldn't give any business to them, they are effectively scammers now.

Your link doesn't work but for PoE cameras you should research both Hikvision and Dahua. Plenty of info on here.

So pretty much worst case then...

I was aware of Foscam fake reviews in the past on their PTZ indoor cams, but failed to do proper research and find that Amcrest was associated with them prior to buying what I have now. I guess I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed that they don't fail any time soon. The quality on them is quite good.

I'll definitely take your advice and look into Hikvision. I liked what I saw when I browsed them a few months ago, so hopefully I can find a comparable spec bullet from them and get them ordered soon. Thank you for the reply!

The cameras are likely rebranded dahua though I dont know for sure. Their pt camera uses dahua firmware. If it is dahua you are good, but overpaid and as del boy pointed out, Amcrest is foscam.us/foscam digital technologies.

I think they might be Fostar Shenzhen aka Foscam OEM. I read that somewhere rather than researching it so might be complete rubbish.

If you can't send cameras back then it's not the end of the world, just you can get better from a company that doesn't do fake reviews and actually honours their warranties.

If it is Dahua rebranded then at least they are ONVIF and you can add Dahua ONVIF cameras in the future.

Dahua bullet check out IPC-HFW4421D with LXIR (aka Hikvision EXIR) or IPC-HFW4421E which is smaller for 4MP. If on a budget IPC-HFW4300S 3MP is good and IPC-HFW2100 1.3MP is amazing at night but I would only use to cover dark areas on property which don't get much traffic.

I checked the MACs on the cams and they register as Dahua, so that's a good sign. The IPC-HFW4300S 3MP you mentioned looks to be fairly close in specs, just with a different mounting arm and shield. I'll keep looking and thanks again for the help.

I have the Amcrest IP3M-954E. It's only been two months, but I am happy with it. As was previously mentioned in this thread, Internet connection viewers show it as a Dahua.

Based on the firmware, these appear to be the Dahua 1320s which are the successors to the 4300s.

Not quite. 1320s are the Lite series but 4300s has been discontinued now. The Dahua model numbering is crazy anyway.

Funny enough, I believe I read somewhere that Dahua discontinued the 4300s because there were too many unauthorized offshoots. Not sure how discontinuing the line solves that problem.

Hahaha, yeah good point. It's so confusing when people ask if anyone has 4331 or something. And then you realise it's a 4300S. I never thought this was the reason.

One thing about the 4300S. It's absolutely bullet-proof. Not used a Lite series camera yet.

Taken from Foscam's website:

We, Foscam.US (aka Foscam Digital Technologies and now Amcrest Technologies), are an independent United States based distributor of "Foscam" branded products. We have been offering telephone support, US local warranty and building the Foscam brand in the US for the past 7 years. However, we are deeply saddened to report that, even after all of this, our overseas suppliers have decided to undercut us and supply to our major customers directly. For this reason, we have no choice but to suspend telephone support for all Foscam branded products. If you have purchased a Foscam camera directly from us or from one of our authorized retailers, technical support is still available via email at support@foscam.us.

I have read an article somewhere that, yes, Dahua is now Amcrest's official OEM supplier. Having said that, it is not a guarantee, however, that all features of Dahua US cameras will be 100% compatible with the Amcrest NVRs.

Hope this helps.

So basically they said we're going to screw over prior Foscam customers and not provide support but now will sell you overpriced rebranded dahua you gotta be crazy to buy from them when you can get dahua for less...

Ditching my Amcrest NVR for a Dahua 4-channel PoE. Amcrest webGUI is pathetic and haphazardly done. I don't know what to do with my two Amcrest cameras though. Maybe try them with the Dahua NVR when I get it...see if they are compatible.

Is the gui different than the dahua NVR?

looks exactly like a lightly branded dahua, the UI wont be much different.. just color changes and some small UI tweaks, but overall wont be much different.

a dahua of mine:

Here are screenshots of the Amcrest NVR's webGUI:

Nayr:

I agree that it's not much different than a Dahua, but I am certain it doesn't behave as well as a Dahua. For instance, the webGUI doesn't refresh properly -- one has to toggle between record dates on record mode to refresh the record progress bar.

Basically, it's a half-baked webUI -- buggy, no shutdown option (only in native UI) and cannot be turned off from the power button even when it's not recording.

Wondering how to remove the "IPC" and date time stamp watermarks off of the AmCrest Pro 3M-954EW camera. In its internal settings, when I click on the Camera/Configuration setting, the camera view pops up right in the middle of the screen, and it makes the settings unusable.

UPDATE: The label setting is kind of hidden in the web GUI, but I was able to locate it and change it.

Just a quick follow-up on these...just about hitting a year now and they are still working well (thankfully). They have survived multiple south Florida storms over the past year as well. I have not updated the firmware since the initial install and will let them go until failure or an upgrade is warranted.

I've put in a few additional Dahua bullets, but now looking to add a couple more mini dome or turrets as entryway/door cams.
