Can i ask, where you put /current_config, what would i put in there? My user name for the camera? DMZ is disabled, i have Upnp which is currently enabled.
Turn UPNP off, on everything you can find it in. Router, cams, etc.

I meant, if your camera's IP is for example 192.168.1.100 you would try requesting http://192.168.1.100/current_config/passwd in a browser on the same LAN. Vulnerable firmwares will return the user database with password hashes. If the camera web port is accessible to the entire Internet (uPNP, DMZ, port forwarding etc) then it could be easily targeted by malware.

Just tried this too. Norton Internet Security on the PC I used, traps it and returns a Dahua Unauthorized Access Attempt. So, Norton knows about this as being an Issue with Dahua cameras. Interesting.

No it doesn't.

It just stops the uninformed from potentially harming themselves for a good deal of cash.

This morning my Dahua SD49225T-HN starts rebooting every 10 to 20 seconds.
Tried changing power supply, default settings, nothing helps.
Then I saw this tread...
Isolated camera on network without internet access and rebooting stoped...

I've tried plugging my camera directly into the PC but still had no joy with it :( I have e-mailed Dahua to see if they can help at all but yet to hear anything back.

Try to use switch not connected to internet and only connect camera and your PC to that switch.

So is this resolved as a firmware issue? I see that blocking its WAN connection might help, but is this unique to the 5231? I was planning to scrap some of my cheap cameras and pick up 1 or 2 of these and am now second guessing.

Will Dahua support these cameras ? if you bought from Ali they make it pretty clear any seller is NOT authorized and will provide zero support. Statement about Purchasing Products from Unauthorized Channels

No telling what kind of modified firmware is in the grey market cameras. It seems pretty strange all these issues are popping up now especially after working fine for some time. I have been using Dahua products for some time but not from Ali re-sellers. I have always bought from USA resellers and for the most part things have been VERY reliable and rock solid. Just wondering if you got a reply from them.

No word form Andy...
As i talked with dahua guys, they suggest to change the password for the cams, and update the firmware asap. Because when connect the cam to the internet then offline. This not happen on 5231 only, i get report for SD22204T-GN,SD49225T-HN, SD29204T-GN and HDW5231R-Z.

I think most dahua sellers can process the technical support. For the warranty issues i always cover for those who bought from us. And even i help those who not buy from us, buy locally is good for those rich guys. But we just want to do a affordable security syestems. Tech change very fast, 2 years later what we use is an old thing and change to a new one. Or else how iphone now iPhone8?

Are they aware of any specific issue or just making generic recommendations?

I've not had any trouble with any of mine including most of those you listed, some running older firmware, English and 'International' versions, but they're all completely blocked from the Internet both in and out.

Andy, is there an actual PAL & NTSC version of the IPC-HDW5231R-Z or is it just dependent on the firmware used? I notice the three IPC-HDW5231R-Z I have show video standard NTSC in web interface the which makes me assume I would use the second firmware listed below. I'm using blue iris as my NVR so I don't think PAL/NTSC matter unless its a hardware compatibility issue. It looks like the firmware being referenced in this thread is the first one.

[PAL]DH_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_Eng_P_Stream3_V2.460.0000.7.R.20170306
[NTSC]DH_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_EngSpn_N_Stream3_V2.460.0000.7.R.20170306
