4.5.8 - June 23, 2017

  • The functionality of the BlueIrisApplePush.exe is now built-into the main executable, so this file is no longer required and will be removed from the installer. This new version is much more efficient and can be extended to support new Apple and iOS features.

  • Support for "rich notification" content via iOS push notifications. A corresponding update to the iOS app is forthcoming--you will be able to "long press" the notification to preview an image without launching the app. A web server session key is generated in order to allow the app to connect back to the server to retrieve the image--you may notice this on the Status/Connections page as IP address 0.0.0.0 unless/until the app retrieves the image.

  • The Status Connections and Status Messages pages now memorize column widths when you adjust them

  • The Status Messages page now performs a refresh without losing list position and selected item state. Previously it was difficult use the list while it was continuously updated, taking you back to the top of the list each time.

I have tested 4.5.8.0 and 4.5.8.1 but so far iOS push alerts are no longer being sent to my iPhone while SMS alerts are working as expected. I'm waiting to see if the updated iOS app will correct the issue. Ken is aware and is working with me via email.

I'm very appreciative to Ken for this feature, I had requested this enhancement previously and I'm really excited that he has decided to implement it!

After the upgrade, logging in via the web server throws the error below for me more often than not. Can click Close and try again, and usually after the 3rd or 4th time, it'll let me in.

My iOS app is also having problems logging in. Retrying there will eventually get connected too.

Shot an email to support.

I've always had it send me an SMS with the attached image from our porch camera, but I wanted to test the new features in push notifications and noticed it wasn't working as of 4.5.8.2.

Got me thinking it'd be cool if Ken could release betas. I'm sure there are enough people around here willing to test to make that worthwhile.

You can do that yourself...disable auto update, consider all releases beta until they are known stable...problem with beta testing everything is that it significantly delays features being available...this way, you get it right away...

I have auto update disabled, but I roll the dice sometimes. And being a BI user for quite a while now, I don't get worked up if I update and notice something's not working. I might still pop in here to see if others having same issue, see if it's been reported, etc.

Anyone else get this? Mine doesn't do it, and I'm the guy who wrote that login page, so if I can't reproduce it I can't fix it.

bp, I got it once earlier on both machines I use it on but I can't get it to happen anymore. For me, it logs in without the error now

No login errors this morning. I didn't make any changes between last night and now. What the heck? lol

OK, spoke too soon. I am seeing the login errors today, just not as a frequently as I was yesterday. They didn't start happening yesterday until after I upgraded to 4.5.8.2. I was a few versions behind. (4.5.7.something)

Sorry, I posted a new thread but after browsing around the BI forums realized I probably should have posted it here -- after updating I'm constantly getting logged out of the web interface within 5-10 minutes. I've even gotten logged out while I'm in the middle of reviewing alert videos. I really hate the login page - I used to be able to login via the user/pass htaccess popup window and I would be good all day as long as the window was open. Now it seems with each update the window of time that I can use the web interface keeps getting shorter and shorter. And the login page really needs error messages added in - whether the user/pass combo was incorrect or what. I've had multiple times where I know 100% I entered my username and password correctly but the login page just refreshes and doesn't log me in.

Chrome browser on Windows 7 and Windows 10; BI running on Win Server 2016. Cleared browser cache / temp files, even tried using incognito mode to see if it was something with the way Chrome was handling cookies.

Gave 4.5.8.2 a try. Motion triggered push notifications stopped working but doing a TEST notification from the push alerts config page did work. Email notifications also stopped working.

Same experience for me as it relates to the iOS push notifications. I don't use email or SMS alert notifications. Ken and I have shared multiple emails back and forth but it's still not working. I'll check back if things change.
