Just recently, I am starting to see video distortion in two of my four Foscams.
I know Foscams suck but I've had these for about 2 years and never had a problem with them for their purpose.

Below is a snapshot of top (only happens at the top) of a video stream of what I am seeing, it is only visible on the BI viewer and BI app.
The distortion does not show on the Foscam app or in video recording by BI.
Simple camera reset fixes it but it has happened twice in one week now. Both cameras happen at the same time.

It started after I received an addition camera (Dahua), not sure if that is related though...

Not sure what that picture is. Is that the BI console on a monitor connected to the BI pc? Or is it an app viewing remotely?
Interesting you say the recording made by BI is fine?

That is a picture of the monitor connected to my BI PC.
It is the same on the app.
Recordings do not show that but they do seem like degraded quality.

Have you been able to view on vlc as an rtsp stream at the time this occurs to verify yet?
So you are saying at exactly the same time code on a BI recording that the live feed was bad, the recording looks OK? That is strange if so.

Can you tell us a bit about your system? Cams wired or wireless? PC dedicated to BI? Processor? Frame rates - I frames - bit rates etc?

My system uses a i5-4670K with 16GB RAM writing direct-to-disk on 4TB WD Reds
Camera is a Foscam FI9831P v2 - Wireless camera
The live feed on the BI app and viewer on my BI PC are bad - turns out the recording is clearer but chopped in half. So the recordings are degraded also.
After leaving it for a minute, I decided to go on my Foscam app to see if it is also distorted also. The Foscam cam app showed a perfect stream.
Then I look back at my BI viewer, it is also clear, the BI app is also fixed too.

Not sure what is causing it but when I use the Foscam app, it fixed itself this one time. I will try it again when it happens.
Not sure how to do rtsp stream, still trying to figure it out. Currently doing port forwarding (I know it's bad) but I do not see any options to make it is rtsp in the camera settings.
When I set BI to rtsp, it says "No rtsp stream found, error 404."

Glad it is working now but all bets are off with wireless cams. Don't worry about rtsp. The point was to use a program like vlc that would emulate the stream BI pulls so as to see if the stream was also bad. Wireless is very prone to these types of failures and should not be used, IMHO.

as stated you must test with something that pulls the rtsp stream like vlc...that way youll know if its the camera or BI...the web interface does not stream the same rtsp stream as the camera does to bi..

The camera was distorted again on BI, went into the Foscam cam real fast and it fixed itself again.
Are there any how-tos on doing the rtsp stream? Not having much luck.
