Hi,
I recently installed the BI server (paid version) on a dedicated pc and it seems to be running fine (well ignoring the excessive alerts but thats a different story). Yesterday i downloaded the paid ios app which is currently version 1.57. To setup a 'new server', i hit connect, then input the first 5 and last 5 digits of my license key in a textbox and hit find IPs next to it. It immediately found both my LAN and WAN addresses correctly (based on what i see in the server on the pc). Since i was only testing from inside my home wifi network, it shouldnt matter that i dont currently have ports forwarded (il set up a vpn later). The mobile setup also asks to put in a username and password. Since my default on the server was admin with no password, i made a new user with name and password on the pc and copied it on the app.

Well i cant connect to the server. I keep getting the error message of "unable to make connection, check server address". I have tried copying the LAN onto WAN (shouldnt matter but still) and no change. I have even tried changing the default http to https and still no go.

What am I missing!!

BI server version is 4.5.8.0 x64

Thank you for the assistance

your excessive alerts are due to improper motion detection setup...read the help file.
Check your firewall...ensure that you entered the webserver port correctly in the mobile app....there are reports of issues with ios, and the 8.0 ...revert back to something older or update to the latest and try again.

@fenderman Thanks for replying
FYI. I have an asus ac68W. Im using the defaults in the firewall with the latest firmware. Also downloaded latest Merlin asuswrt. Same result. I am attaching the firewall settings. Dont see a block. But i dont know much about firewalls to be honest.

The port is 81 (default) on the app and i didnt really pick but rather the app picked it automatically when i input the license key in the app. As far as BI server version... are u saying revert to an older BI server version? Since this is a recent setup il check if BI website has older versions. What is a good stable version i should look for? By the way the ios app is very new also (released yday) but i have never used an older version.

thanks

EDIT: i checked inside BI webserver under remote access.. i have a green check for the port 81. i clicked the link and it asked me to log in and i have access to the cameras. So the problem isnt with the firewall or port from what I understand.

SOLVED!!

Just as I was scratching my head, a message popped up on Bi offering an update. 4.5.8.3. Right after installing it, checked my ios app and its logging in now :) So there was probably a bug. BTW, i sent the developer a message a little before I posted on the forum. Coincidental or not!!
