I have an LTS model LTN8708-P8 network video recorder that is acting very strangely. It is abnormally shutting down and rebooting several times a day. I have experienced this same problem in the past and by updating the firmware it has gone away. The current firmware version is V3.3.2 build 170222. This has just started back up and I am unsure what to look at to try to resolve this. Any suggestions as to what to look at?

hmm...check your log for abnormal shutdowns and also illegal logins, if you're getting tons of 'illegal login' you might be attacked by a botnet, which can cause it to reboot. If you do see a ton of illegal logins, try to disconnect it from the internet, see if that stops the rebooting.

there's a June version of firmware out now too if you want to update for 8708-p8

For some reason when I try to upgrade by going through my NVR it tells me the firmware is current. Would the illegal logins show up in operations? I am seeing local and some remote logins listed.

It should show up under 'Exceptions'
Also does it only happen in summer time? Wonder if it could be overheating

I actually run my dahua tower case without the metal cover so it can release heat better because one of the fan broke, also keep it clean with compress air once in a while. majority of people forget NVR/DVR are just like computer parts that needs to be kept clean and cool for best results.

Are you allowing the world wild web to access your NVR? Port forwarding on your router? If so, you are playing with fire, as they say.
