The new Echo Show supports live view of select brands of security cameras, such as Ring, Amcrest, etc. I setup my Ring products with the Echo Show and it is decent. However, Amcrest requires a subscription to their cloud service in order to add more than one of their cameras to the Echo Show. Is there any chance that Blue Iris will eventually add support for Echo Show so that I can view all of my cameras without a restriction?

Get a $50 Kindle, and use Tinycam Pro on it. Just say no to cloud services.

Has anyone found a way to do this yet? Purchased a couple Echo Shows and it would be great to see the camera streams from BI.

I emailed the developer and they said they are investigating it.

I'm one of the people who still have very little confidence in cloud-based services. Unless I'm leasing/renting a server instance and responsible for it, myself.
This doesn't relate to the thread. You may feel that it is relevant because you are giving out "good advice", but this thread is about plugging Blue Iris into Amazon's Echo Show device (hence the thread title "Blue Iris and Amazon Echo Show"), not what you guys recommend purchasing as a workaround or how you feel about cloud-based services.

It's usual for replies to threads here to not always relate 100% to the thread topic. It's part of the culture here. Threads here seem more like conversations, and they will branch out with opinions on the matter. Welcome!
Ahhh, alright, sorry about that. Do go on about cloud services VorlonFrog. What don't you like about them? Is it the fact that somebody else is holding your data or that it's inaccessible in the event you have an outage?

I usually agree with you and looney2ns, but in today's world it seems like everything is moving to the cloud (and a lot of them come with a subscription model, I definitely don't like that). It almost seems inevitable that everything will one day be in the cloud as users give up more and more control of their configurations. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing though since it enables those without technical pedigree to set up a camera or smart device easily and not worry about storing their information or maintaining a server. I suppose there are pros and cons to both methods and the end user will choose which one suits his or her life most appropriately.

One of the largest problems (IMHO) with cloud "services" is, what happens when the cloud vendor fails and/or their service disappears? Or they're hacked because they didn't maintain security measures? In a recent example, Hikvision (I seem to remember) shut down one of their DNS servers/services and people were left without access to their cameras for several days.

Surely you're not suggesting that Amazon and Amazon Web Services (the largest Cloud Services provider in the history of computing) is going to simply "disappear". Outages happen of course, but I don't think any of us would forgo integration with Amazon Echo Show because it "might have a failure some day because Amazon has an outage". If you don't want the integration fine; I would personally find great value in the rest of my family being able to "see the driveway" from the kitchen on our Echo Show instead of only me via the app etc. Frankly we are FAR more likely that are cameras will experience a targeted attack due to their presumably-well-secured full linux stack running on them than will AWS..

Echo Show would be a pretty poor choice for a dedicated monitor, but if you are going to have one already then there is no harm in using it to look at a camera once in a while.

Since Blue Iris has basic Echo integration already I wouldn't be surprised if he spends the time to make it work with the Show. Though I can think of a lot more important things to spend development time on.

Getting back on topic, would be a huge fan of pulling up my BI cams on my Echo show. Is this a real possibility? Don't want to have to buy a nestcam...

I emailed the BI developer but have not received a response. LewisD is the only person who has received a response so far. Maybe try emailing him as well to show more interest? Also, do you have any input on the subject of cloud services? :p

I got a response from support as well. "Echo Show integration is something the developer is looking into currently."

Anyone heard any updates on this? Just saw that yesterday Amazon announced the echo spot. Would be awesome to be able to ask it to see a camera when the door bell rings. I already use Alexa to set profiles occasionally. Being able to ask for video would be sweet.

This guy has it working from a Raspberry Pi via RTSP

The latency is disturbing, but I have to imagine that's just a buffer setting.

I did receive an email from Ken (Blue Iris Dev) on July 27th about the integration with the Echo Show. He responded:
"...the #1 issue there is the Echo and the PC need to be on the same LAN segment (same first 3 parts of the IP address)."

I responded that "most people" probably do not face the issue of their Echos and cameras existing on separate subnets, so it certainly sounds possible. It would be awesome to have a skill where Blue Iris could poke the (idle) Echo Shows and Spots in your house and display the camera feed as soon as motion is detected. One can dream :)
