Never had a camera with a built in microphone and none of the pictures in this thread actually show the end of the wires that come out of the camera. if this is a separate plug and those that are using BI how are you connecting it to the computer?

I'm not going to dig the whole thread, but i think this question was already asked and pictures should have been shown as well, while one asked how to connect the waterproof connection kit which comes with the cam.
The sound which is recorded by the mic is included in the stream and reaches your BI or NVR over IP like the video does... so it's included in the stream. No cabling at all than network and maybe power supply if you aren't going to use PoE.

From page 6 of the Quick Start Guide:

Weatherproofing Connections

The included RJ-45 waterproof connector is OK, but it can be improved with Di-Electric grease in the connections: Permatex 22058 Dielectric Tune-Up Grease, 3 oz. Tube | Amazon, as well as wrapping the end with self-sealing silicon tape: 3M Scotch 2228 Rubber Mastic Electrical Tape 50727-BA-5 Home Depot Universal Electronics Original # 104 Coax Seal | Amazon

You can find RJ-45 waterproof connectors on Amazon and ebay, but these require you to cut and re-terminate the camera’s connector, and it Dahua doesn’t appear to have standardized wire colors, as noted here, so it is probably not worth the trouble.
CNBTR LAN RJ45 AP Female to Female Adapter Waterproof connector M25 Ethernet | Amazon
0-24V DC LAN RJ45 M25 Ethernet AP Waterproof connector 8 core for double cable | eBay

Hi,

I got one of these from Andy and having some trouble with http access.

I bought this one as a test. I plan to add 4 others.

In order to show the stream in my domotics visualisation I have to use an mjpeg stream. The visualisation is web based and no browser supports native rtsp streams.

I've installed SmartPSS on a Windows 10 laptop and that runs without problems. I can view the main stream.
My other computer is a Linux box running Fedora 25. When using Chrome with the NACPL Web Plug-in, I can access the camera's web interface and view all streams.

The camera is powered with PPOE from a switch. Firmware version is 2.460.000.7.R build 2017-3-6. Fixed IP address.

After powering up, I can acces the camera both with SmartPSS and the web interface. At that point everything is working OK.
I have enabled a substream and can access this in Firefox (my default browser) with a url like this:
http://admin:password@<IP>/cgi-bin/mjpg/video.cgi?channel=1&subtype=1
This is also the url I use in my domotics visu and it actually also works.

Substream parameters are:
D1(704*576)
Frame rate: 12 FPS
Reference bit rate: 1792-1049FPS
Bit rate: 8192

After a while however, the stream stops, and the web interface stops working. I cannot login anymore. SmarPSS still shows the main stream.
When I then try to view the main stream in VLC with rtsp it works. The rtsp substream is also shown. When I try to view the mjpeg stream, the device returns an HTTP 500 error.

When restarting the device in SmartPSS, I get an error message: "Reboot device failed". I then have to pull the plug in the switch to reboot the device.
After rebooting, everything works again for a while.
Any tips?

Do you have a Dahua NVR? I was under the assumption that SmartPSS was only for use with Dahua NVR's. A light Google search did not provide disprove this assumption, but it would be nice if I can use SmartPSS with my Dahua cameras, as I have no NVR currently.

Thanks.

No, I don't have a NVR.
At the moment I am still using Zoneminder. I started to use this with my Mobotix T25 door cam. I understand BI is much better, but I had a Linux server available and it does what I need it to do...
I tried to run SmartPSS under wine in Linux but it keeps crashing.

Was wondering if they'd do a 3MP like Hikvision...
I've got one of the Hikvision DS-2CD2335FWD-I cameras arriving tomorrow as an easy drop in replacement for an older DS-2CD2332 model and looking forwards to seeing how it performs.

The Dahua should still have it beaten but the one thing I do really like is that you can easily add a microSD card via a slot on the Hikvision unlike the Dahua which you have to pop open.

It cost me $150 for a UK model with 3 year warranty so not much less than these Dahua cams from Andy which shows what a bargain these are!

The dahua opens easy, the process takes no more than 5 minuets..

Just looking at the new version of this, the IPC-HDW5231R-ZE, where are the IR illuminators now as it doesn't seem too obvious?

I'm guessing behind the black fascia?

I see they go up to 13.5mm zoom now too.
