HI,
I have a question regarding recording. I have set up my recording for all new videos to record to my new folder located on my C drive(Blue Iris) and stay there for 7 days, Then automatically move them to my stored folder on my D drive to hold for an additional 14 days after which they will be deleted. When I check both of these folders I only see dates of 2 or 3 days in both. Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong? I included two images of my configurations to show you how I have it set up.

Thank you

Paul

That is because you have a low size limit...don't set any day limits...limit by storage capacity Only.

Thanks for replying Fenderman,

I'm still a bit confused on how to separate the storage capacity. I have a 250GB C drive so should I set my new limit size for "NEW" to lets say 200GB with room to spare. My D drive is 1 TB so would you recommend separating the Stored and Alerts folders to 400GB, again with a little room to spare ?????? In the past you have been my council on BI issues. Whatever you recommend I am comfortable with. What would you do?

Really no need to be moving files around. Set them all to record to the New folder on the D: drive and leave them in the New folder until deleted.

Thanks for replying Looney2ns,

Just for clarity what you are saying is don't bother using secondary storage folder just set the new folder to delete after a designated amount of time. Sounds too Simple. After seeing how storing files was designed in BI, I thought that was the recommended way. How do I treat the alerts? Do I need to send them to the new folder also and with a 1TB D drive what should the max limit be for New files and/or Alerts?

Thanks

Paul

Also confused about not sending them to a second HDD. I have a 2Tb purple and about 10 cams running. It looks like I can hold about 7 days and then I kick it off to a second drive. I'm considering upgrading to a 4TB WD external USB 3.0 to use as an archive to hold the files longer. Any issues with that?

Use C: drive for Operating system, BI Database, and BI.
Alerts have their own folder, just leave that be.
Set the New folder on the D: drive, allocate the drive leaving 1gb or more free.

This is all mostly personal preference, there is no right or wrong way really.
