Pre-trigger Video Buffer doesn't seem to be working

Not sure what the issue is, but BI is NOT pre-recording.
Here's some images of my settings:
Dropbox - BI-Trigger.png [/IMG]

The pre-trigger value is set to 10sec.
Even though I have Zones for non-detection setup, I've tried disabling that anyway and it doesn't make any difference.
I've played around with the trigger settings and made them EXTREMELY sensitive, but that doesn't seem to make any difference.
The recorded clips simply seem to show detected objects w/o the pre-trigger buffer. For cars crossing the scene (camera on front of house pointing towards street) the recordings START after cars are about 1/3 of way across already.
The fact that BI is triggering and recording AT ALL...I would expect the 10sec buffer to be included in each of those recorded clips. I'm at a loss here.

you will need to post all your motion and record settings as well as you cameras video settings.
What is your iframe interval set to?

You beat me to it. Was just about to edit my post to include that all cameras are set so that the i-Frame and fps are the same.

Yes, Profile1 is being used throughout.
The Motion settings are in the linked image in my original post (having issues with including images in these post for some reason)

you need to include all settings including zones..
use the standard algorithm...

Okay...for settings, just want any recording and trigger based? Or literally ALL settings?
What do you mean by "standard algorithm" ?

I've since unchecked the Zone setup. So no Zone usage now.
I've also changed from Gaussian to Simple.
I've had the camera trigger a couple of times since making these changes and I'm not seeing any change in behavior. There's still no inclusion of a pre-trigger buffer.

High Resolution option unchecked. No difference.

In attached image. The white truck is travelling from right to left.
Where the truck is in the image is where BI *started* recording this clip. This is fairly typical for triggering point. Sometimes, it doesn't start until a vehicle is in the center of the view.

In regards to where in the frame the "trigger" starts I see no problem or at least it's pretty average in my own setup. There seems to be variance because of lighting, contrast and colors involved in my experience. I have my trigger set to use the cameras motion detection as well as in BI set to trigger using object detection when the object moves 100 pixels. Default I believe. If you're not using zones which is a more in depth setting up perhaps try turning on the camera as well as the built-in BI detection.

The position at where the BI triggers the recording to start I can deal with....which was by using the pre-buffer when it triggers later than I'd like. But if pre-buffer recording isn't working, then I have an issue.
Totally understand all the different variables involved in when BI will trigger. I'm playing around quite often trying to tweak them to optimize.

Are you certain there is no prior footage? view the clip though the software itself or via the calendar in the app...
if its not there, delete the camera in blue iris and add it again..

I'm positive. Like I mentioned, in that screenshot, that is at the VERY beginning of the recorded clip. It's not at the end of the previous recorded clip either.
Not sure what you mean by" view the clip through the software itself".
Looking at a clip on my phone using the app, it's doing the same thing. Car first appears about the middle of the screen.
I'll try removing/adding the camera.

I said via the software OR the clip view in the app NOT the alert view..there is a specific reason why I am asking this.

I've got it working now.
The buffered recording is also working on the other cameras that I didn't delete/re-add. I think what fixed it had something to do with one of the settings in the Record tab.
I think it might have been the unchecking of the "Combine or cut video each" option. I'd try validating this, but now that it's working, I really don't want to risk breaking it again. :)

Much appreciate the assistance, fenderman!

it is not related to combine and cut..I cannot think of anything capable of breaking pretrigger..it seems to have been a glitch..

Hi all,

I'm new at this forum and have my 4 cams from august on and using blue iris.
Everything was runngi great so far.
Only thing is to have footage before triggering because bi starts a bit late sometimes.

Have the same issue like the thread opener. Had tried all mentioned possibilties. Nothing helped.
All my 4 cameras have no pre recording.

@ck42: had you found out what fixed the problem???

anyone a suggestion what I can do?

well you answered your own question...setup pretrigger recording 3 seconds...also when using direct to disk recording starts at the iframe...set your iframe in the camera to match the fps.
