Only a guess: In March a dollar exchanged to about 6.9 chinese yuan. Now a dollar exchanges to about 6.5 chinese yuan, a ~5.8% devaluation. $190 increased by 5.8% is $201.02. This would account for more than half of the increase.

I ordered one, and there was only the PAL format available. When it arrives, does it matter which firmware to install (PAL/NTSC)? It will be used for Blue Iris.

From where did you get them?
I'm also wondering, what is the point to have a microphone on a camera, that is zoomed out far away?
I'm new to all these, I'm trying to learn.
I have a Z12 as well and I'm trying to set it up, as a LPR camera.

Amazon:

If I see people walk by, I play sounds at them:

You'll need to use profiles based on time of day to get LPR right. I use OpenHAB to change the profiles based on where the sun is.

As to firmware updates, then, receiving a PAL format camera can either stay PAL or be applied as an NTSC?

You also connected a speaker to the camera. May I ask what you had used to send sounds out?

Also, you use the OpenHAB in what setting? Blue Iris?
The speaker is separate, example:

I use OpenHAB to send the sounds out. OpenHAB is a home automation server. I use it for pretty much everything around the house - lights, TV control, camera profiles. You can do a lot with it.

It does this if things really hit the fan:

I have got the junction box for this camera(same as yours), and there are no instructions.
Anybody could explain, how to install these properly?
I see, that you have the camera base cutouts open. That is OK like that?

Well, any time I buy electronics the price plummets in a few months...maybe I'll buy one and help everyone else out. ;)

Hit the link in my signature from my notes, wherein you will see a "drawing" of mounting options.

Regarding the opening, the little camera ball is weatherproofed, so as long as you use the included weatherproof connection parts for the category cable connection, you should be fine.

I'm thinking about bugs spiders, could get a nice cozy home in there, with those cutouts open like that.
These cameras could be placed outside in the open?
I'm having difficulty, with the IR reflection.
I have to place my camera, at a narrow angle, at one of the corners of my garage(facing the garage, on the right side, facing toward the left) and I'm getting an iR reflection.
I have tried different positions, even on the other side of the garage, but no matter what I do, I'm getting a reflection.
If I pull it away from the wall, IR reflection goes away.

I posted a picture in the regular "5231" thread where I put a piece of an exterior door seal in the gap. just to test it out.

The one I have on the exterior is mounted on the eve of the roof and inverted so any water that could get in there would drain out from those gaps.

But yes that little ball is sealed, and can theoretically be placed outdoors in the weather.

For that I am a reflection minus pointed down and I used to junction box so I think that gave it enough distance and or the right angle where I do not get in IR reflection.

I hope this helps.

Found a good spot, left side of the garage, right at the corner, under the eve. No more IR reflection.

I was thinking about, the little cut outs for the wires, at the base of the camera.

Yeah I was thinking the camera would've come with a little rubber piece to stick in there, but alas, it did not. I even tried looking through my screw collection of find something that would fit in there but had no success, and just installed them.

I received my Z5 yesterday (thanks Andy!) and looking at this beast, I am wondering how to mount this on a pole. I hadn't ordered any accessory mounting kit, and am thinking of somehow lashing a wooden block onto a pole, and then just securing the Z5 to the wood. Any suggestions on what a hardware store might have handy?
