what does tracert say about the destination? Do you see the traffic attempting to cross the tunnel?

See, that goes over my head, lol. I'm far from a networking expert. I'll have to do some research on what that means and get back to you with an answer.

So I looked at this and the only way I can figure out how to do a tracert from my phone is through the router. And I don't think that helps because the switch I'm trying to access is connected to the router.

I lied. I found an app. Here's a screenshot trying to trace the IP of the switch.

Id start a second server instance, set the options, export the ovpn file again and test on that instance. else reset to defaults and try again.

You did download and import the configuration file and haven't made changes since?
Yes. Completely removed profile from OpenVPN app, Set advanced settings on server, export client file, import from SD to OpenVPN app on phone, then I can successfully connect to VPN and can access router and internet but not my switch.

I'll give this a shot.

do you have any other devices other than the switch connected to the router you can attempt to access like a printer or nas?

I had a camera connected and could not access that either.

No you are correct. I didn't think that mattered. My switch is the only power source I have for the camera. I'll try to see what else is connected right now and try that.

I tried with my thermostat and my FireTV. I couldn't access anything via IP address in a browser but tracert was successful.

your managed switch has IP info configured but did you give it a default gateway, same for the cam does it have a default gateway?

Hmm, I had a working system using pivpn on a pi2, just did the install as suggested and all was OK

I then tried the same install on a pi Zero and BANG same issues as you, client connects no problems, but there is no access to local lan, so I rebuilt the pi2 and using all the same scripts and settings, it works !!

Not sure WTF is different, but something is :(

Sorry for the delayed response, had a crazy busy weekend. Anyways, I just tried adding a second username, reentered the advanced settings, and exported the new client file. This DID NOT work, I still can't access other devices on the LAN from the second username.

I just looked and the switch does not have a gateway. Reads as 0.0.0.0 What should I set this as?

SEMI-Fixed it: WOW, can't believe the problem has been so simple all along. Default gateway needed to be set on my switch. I can confirm I can now get into the switch from the VPN, but I am still unable to access the cameras.

Check your cameras also. Under Setup -> Network -> TCP/IP there should be a place to set the default gateway.
