Are you sure that uses RTSP, and not something like HLS? I've never seen an RTSP stream with that bad of latency before. Most devices that speak RTSP natively have about half a second (give or take half a second) of latency on the encoding side of things.

Makes you wonder what's causing the latency. Maybe the Pi?

However, I use a Pi with OctoPi on my 3D printer, with a camera, there's no more than maybe 500ms of latency.

Hey, me too! OctoPrint is amazing. I have mine set up so that when the printer is on / printing I can see the camera feed through Blue Iris. That would be sweet as well: "Alexa, show me the printer camera" to check on a print.

I am also extremely interested in echo show integration as well. As a matter of fact I purchased a couple when they got first released and are pretty neat when it comes to intercom functionality. I feel its a kick ass monitor for surveillance cams. I already have one of them by the bed and it would be cool to have it display the blue iris camera streams, and use it for baby monitor, door monitor etc etc. And I do not want to get yet another monitor or tablet or whatever else if someone is compelled to recommend something else, cause I have no more space by the bed to stack up other junk and echo show is pretty good for what I need it there. I had also contacted Ken to recommend the feature and check his roadmap. Regards..

Looks like this can be done by others willing to hack a bit and do this without having to wait on the BI developer, as the requirements are

"RTSP over Interleaved TCP connection on port 443 secured with a TLS cert"

Also the lag is probably due to the round trip that is being made to Alexa and AWS

Massively interested in bi and Alexa show integration - would happily pay a premium for this service or be a beta adopter ie Show displaying BI feed on motion.

Has Ken @BI been informed of this post as it could build into a support case for this feature to be developed or prioritised on his backlog.

Another thought, if this integration were possible, I’m assuming it could be used to kick off other skills such as turning on lights on detecting motion on a specific camera via Alexa skills? I use Alexa but have not tried with ifttt skills

Hi,

I have been watching this thread for a while......

If it is any help, I have all my hikvision cams working with Alexa show, both first and second gen.

You need to use monoclecam (.com) website, register and find the RSTP URL. Once that is set up, you discover new devices on you Alexa show or spot app, then ask Alexa to show the cam name. It will take about 10 seconds before your cam appears.
Just be aware, when setting up a new user in user management in the ip Cam, don’t use more than one symbol in the password or it probably won’t work

My hikvision cams used the following RSTP. rtsp://{local IP address goes here}:554/Streaming/Channels/101
Select digest and use the log in details from the new user from the user management.

This works for other ip cams that use H264 video.

Another vote for BlueIris developing an Alexa skill for viewing BI cameras. I am not comfortable sharing my cameras with a 3rd party (Monocle).

Your camera feed is never shared with monacle and does not travel over the internet. The feed is sent locally from the camera to your alexa device.

You have to give your camera feed access credentials to Monacle. How are you protected from misuse of them? Take Monacle's word for it? Bad enough that one must trust Amazon, but adding in a little-known 3rd party? (Part of my job involves data security)

No, you simply don't port forward your cameras which is a foolish thing to do. who cares if they have the credentials, nothing can be done with it.
