I am posting this for others whom might have the same issue.

I didn't have this issue prior to installing version 4. Looking through the forum I came across only one other posting of this issue but it was under version 3. I am able to get about 1 in 15 clips to replay which is strange. http://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php?1660-Unable-to-Open-File-80004005&highlight=80004005. I regenerating my database as fenderman stated in the post with no luck. I believe the issue is that Bi 4 is looking for the clipping in the wrong spot. (C:\BlueIris\Alerts\Cam6.20141230 065542.0.2.jpg) I installed Blue Iris and store Blue Iris's data on my "G:" drive. I poked around in the Blue Iris 4 settings looking for a reason why Blue Iris was looking at the root drive for the clippings. In the Blue Iris Options menu under the Clips and archiving tab i noticed that the folders defaulted to the root drive. I changed them to point to the folders on my correct drive (i.e. "G:"). For testing purposes I switched all cameras record video format back to the file format to Blue Iris DVR and Encoder to default Re-encode with H264 settings. I followed up by a manual test trigger on each camera. I was able to review all test clips now. Time will tell if the camera clips will function normally again. :rugby:

I've had a similar issue. Turns out in my case that recording direct to disk without re-encoding isn't working and it wasn't creating the videos at all. Nasty bug. I'm now re-encoding video from three cameras that are already putting out h.264 from an Axis encoder. Wasting resources and hurting quality but it'll do for now.

oh... that is a nasty bug. i am recording the default method now and it's working fine. Thanks for the update!

I'm now re-encoding video from three cameras that are already putting out h.264 from an Axis encoder. Wasting resources and hurting quality but it'll do for now.
I'm in the same boat. Has anyone notified Ken?

I have the same issue. All of my Axis cam's are affected in the same manner.

I've had to stick to using version 4.0.0.06 as this build seems to be working fine for me. Anything onwards, I'm getting the Unable to open file on all of my Axis cams.

I have inquired with Ken but apparently he hasn't been able to reproduce.

Apparently Ken will have this fixed in version 4.0.0.13.

Well, I just installed and tested 4.0.0.13 and unfortunately the problem still persists (for me at least). I have informed Ken.

Ken remoted into a couple of my Axis camera's; Apparently he found another issue and will try again to correct this deficiency in build 4.0.0.14.

Okay, I tried 4.0.0.14 and direct-to-disk without re-encoding is now working again.

I decided to test Direct to Disk again on one of my cameras. Current Build: 4.0.0.14 x64

File Format > Direct to Disk

AVI: Worked
Blue Iris DVR: Worked
WMV: Black Screen with camera information in the heading
MPEG-4:
"Unable to open file: 80004005"

Question that has been bothering me. When using Direct to Disk, what is the best format to use when it comes time to identify a person? All my camera's are running at 3 megs for the highest resolution possible. When it comes time that I need a picture, I may only have one frame shot to get it right. Granted, I am not running the highest end cameras. I wish to get the best picture possible from my setup. As of this posting, I have only two options: AVI and Blue Iris. I have been running in Blue Iris since I started toying with Direct to Disk.

The BVR format is what I use..according to the help file it is also the most efficient. It also allows you to review clips while they are still recording.

FWIW - I also had a problem with being unable to play clips in the web interface after upgrading to 4.0 (I went straight from 3.x to 4.0.0.16). My problem wound up being the fact that v4 uses a new service, and I had to reconfigure the service to use the service account that has access to the network shares where the clips are stored. This is something I had to do way back when I installed v3, but forgot all about it. Since v4 uses a new service, I had to modify its properties.
