Thanks for the info. Yes, I've come across Andy's store thanks to this thread. I am trying to better understand Dahua's lineup. When searching on Amazon, I come across Dahua cameras, but not sure if this is the "starlight" model - it **looks** like it.

here is a thread on it ..

If you can't find the --exact-- model number on this site: Dahua Technology - Leading Video Surveillance Solution Provider with CCTV Products, IP Camera, PTZ, HDCVI products, NVR, Intelligent Building, Intelligent Transportation and Software - Dahua Technology then it's possibly a hacked to english china region model...which you don't want. Most (not all) on Amazon fall into the hacked category.

Do you guys leave these on 4096 max bit rate? I've read some posts on some saying they can't see a difference with above that and found other posts saying they run theres much higher. I've them at VBR with 15 fps. I can't see a difference at all raising the bitrate, but Im curious what your doing with this cam.
Are you trying to capture vehicle and/or foot traffic? That may play a factor.

Is this camera still the best, since its around 1 year old. Is there anything newer/better for the similar price point/performance?
I read some old posts about profiles, I think I understand it and its limitations. I'm gonna try switching by IR at first since my property is full of motion flood lights that can make it look day light at times. I used to use BI for day/night profiles because my old cams took forever to switch back and forth and would result in several seconds of black video. We'll see how this works out tonight. This is also my first time getting audio with cams. That's gonna be pretty cool going forward.

Very exciting!

I also just wanna publicly thank Andy @EMPIRETECANDY for a great transaction! I think these shipped on Monday and they arrived on a Saturday. Pretty great shipping times for not being Amazon. Thanks again everybody. Time for pizza and beer to see if I can forget about this stupid head cold now.
For this model 1 year old is for its housing, firmware updated i think around 5 times, we meet some problems for this model at the first stage, and luckily we sorted all issues and make it perfect. For the fast shipping way we do via DHL, always good. 2-3 days to US right now. IPC-HDW5231R-ZE is the latest new housing, and firmware inside are same as the IPC-HDW5231R-Z. I get around 300pcs total for both 2 models, so now when ordered can ship out the same day.

I Will do some more discount in the later days, and support guys here who support us for a long time.

Andy offers some discount, if you buy multiple cameras?
Hi Tibimakai,

Andy certainly offers some discount for members here, remember though that DHL shipping does cost a bit and his prices include that, and just this AM he noted he has stock in and ready to ship the next day so you can get them quickly.

Do drop him an email and ask.

I have ordered from him in the past, but only one or two cameras.
I would like to find out, if I would order like 4 cameras, would I get any discount, or it's the same price, as if I would buy one.
I'm ready to buy three cameras, but I'm waiting on some more money to come in, and I was wondering if I should wait, or just buy the three now and get another one separately?

Well to answer my own question I took a snap shot from both 4096 and 8192 bitrates to see if I could see a difference. I toggled them back and forth for several mins and while the higher rate did maybe improve the image, but I would guess by 1% at best. The changes I was seeing might have been shadow changes to be honest. It was interesting to see a shadow from from 2 pics about 1 minute apart moving so much. So 4096 it is!
Why not use h265?

Andy,

He does. If you haven’t seen it, his AliExpress store is below. Gives you a good idea of what he carries. He will do sales via PayPal if you email him.
Empire Technology Co., Ltd - Small Orders Online Store, Hot Selling and more on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

I thought I read somewhere BI doesn't support it yet. Am I wrong?
Ken fixed that in BI a bit ago. BI doesn’t use hardware acceleration for H.265 yet though, so it does take more CPU for BI to handle it.

Hi PhilipI read that the dahua IVS functions do not work with h265 yet...
I don’t remember having any IVS problems with H.265 but that was earlier this year (with a 5216 NVR). Not sure how newer firmwares do.

There were issues, but were fixed. I've been using H265 since I got my i7-7700 early July. Unfortunately hardware acceleration is not supported yet for H265 even though the CPU supports it.
