There were issues, but were fixed. I've been using H265 since I got my i7-7700 early July. Unfortunately hardware acceleration is not supported yet for H265 even though the CPU supports it.
So not only does the software need to support it but the CPU as well?

Hardware accelerated decoding of H265/HEVC has been supported in Intel CPUs with Quick Sync Video since Skylake, but BI has only support for software based H265/HEVC decoding as it cannot utilize the hardware support in the latest Intel CPUs.

Hmm, I'll have to experiment with h265 then. I'm going to double my memory this weekend, once that's done I'll see how well the system performs with it. Would be nice to have the extra storage space I read about.
Let us know how much cpu utilization changes with the upgrade. :)

Howdy, I screwed up and forgot to waterproof the RJ-45 connector. Camera stopped working. I have it apart right now, and was wondering if there is a re-set button inside. If not, I'll order a new one from Andy.

I just received a couple additional cameras from @Andy. They function properly (Sept 7, 2017 firmware) when plugged into my Dahua NVR, but I can not login with the default admin:admin. Did the default login change? I've already tried the hard reset on the cameras.

On mine when i first logged into each cam it forced me to create a pw so u might have to do that first.
It won't let me login. When I do admin:admin, it says wrong password, 4 tries left.

you likely did not reset it correctly.
I powered the camera on, then held the reset button until the internal light turned off (and then a few more), released, and let it reboot.

did you plug them back into the dahua NVR after resetting them? or did you try to login first?

The only POE I have is the NVR. So plugged into the NVR, hold reset, reboots.

I just started having some problems with 2 5231R-Z dropping connection. I'm on a NVR5216 w/poe switch. The first one started over the weekend, it just went black and the 2nd camera just went out this morning. The other 3 cameras are still working fine. I haven't had time to really dig into it, but now with 2 cams completely gone, I need to figure out what's going on. All I've tried so far is moving the cables to a different port on the switch, flash the NVR5216 to the 9/01 firmware since the release notes mentioned fixing cameras dropping connections intermittently. The NVR registration still shows them as disconnected.

Tonight, i'm going to hook up a laptop to the NVR switch and see if I can ping the cameras and get access to them directly instead of the NVR. Everything was working solid for months until the past few days where two cameras just died.

Anyone have experiences returning/exchanging defective cameras with Andy?

Thanks

I found the problem... I finally had time today to pull the cameras. It ended up being bad memory cards. I'm using Sandisk extreme 128gb cards in the cameras. I removed the card and the camera booted right up. I'm not sure how the memory card in two cameras within a few days of each other got corrupted. I'm just glad it wasn't the cameras. :)

The nvr may be passing a stored password to the camera...I dont know as I dont use the standalone units..try deleting the camera from the NVR and setting it up as new.

where did you purchase the memory cards? There are tons of fakes on the market.

I got them from Amazon and they were fulfilled by Amazon. Ill double check the markings to see if they are indeed fake. I plan on sending them in for warranty.

Hi Guys I’m stuck and need some help. I purchased 3 x hdw5231r-ze I month back and working on setting them up on my QNAP nas using Surveillance Station and QVR Pro Beta.
The QNAP supports the hdw5231r-z on the older firmware and hoped that the newer model with newer firmware would work.

3 main issues:
1. Audio is extremely slow and muffled when streamed via QNAP SS. Camera web page plays the audio fine and is set to default audio settings.
2. If I use the Dahua hdw5231r-z profile within the QNAP SS I get live streaming but motion detection does not work. If I attempt to make changes to the camera settings in the QNAP I lose connection and the status of the camera goes into connecting. If I use the ONVIF profile then continuous recording is fine but motion detection event does not work.
3. There are no alarm event options under event> video detection. If I enable video detection nothing really happens. No events are being generated (confirmed using ONVIF Device Manager and Alarm Tab of the camera web page doesn’t display any events) and the graph showing motion detection under “Areas> Setting” doesn’t not display any results despite adjusting the sensitivity levels. The preview window in the “Areas> Setting” section has the complete red grid and detects motion.

Any ideas? Going to run up milestone server tomorrow to see if the issue 1 and 2 above is with the QNAP.

The Camera does not have an SD card atm.

Thanks in advance

Is there anyone that tried this camera in freezing condition. I guess this camera is without heating?

First post, but have been following this fantastic forum for a few months.
Curious if these camera will survive a Norwegian winter...
