Hey guys,

I just received a brand new DS-2CD2T42WD-I8. It is connected to a TP-Link TL-SG1016PE. Once connected, the IR lights illuminate for maybe 10 seconds and then cycle off. On the switch the light is illuminated showing it is sending power, but the data transmission light is not illuminated. Checking the router, the camera is nowhere to be found in connected devices. SADP does not pick it up.

I have two other Hikvision cameras connected to the switch, both of which are working flawlessly. I have attempted resetting both the switch and router. Same result. Starting to think its DOA. Any ideas?

Thanks!

did you make your own cable? if so, did you wire it 568B standard?

I did, and it was wired to 568B standard. However, the camera acts the same way when plugged into switch with store bought cable.

You could try accessing it from a web browser:

http://192.168.1.64/

And you can ping it from the command line:

ping 192.168.1.64

When the camera is first powered on, or while it is booting after a reboot, after a short while it starts responding to pings. Accessing it from the web browser, it redirects to another page, something like:

http://192.168.1.64/doc/page/login.asp?_0123456789012

Where you will have some other number instead of 0123456789012. It is normal while booting for it to first say something to the effect that it can not find this page. After it finally comes up, it can find the page, which has some buildings, a camera lens, and the login screen.

I cannot access it from a browser or ping it. It does not seem to be connecting at all.

Hopefully you have configured the TP-Link TL-SG1016PE to have a network 192.168.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 with a computer assigned an ip address on the 192.168.1 network that you are pinging the camera with. The default ip address of the camera is 192.168.1.64. The computer should be able to ping the switch, I guess the switch gateway ip address on the 192.168.1 network (maybe 192.168.1.1).

If the above is ok, then you could try unplugging the network cable from the camera, cleaning the contacts (on both the male and female connectors) with something like a cotton wool bud with methylated spirits (I'm using Australian terminology here), or an small eraser, and plugging it back in again.

I don't believe it to be a networking issue. I have two other cameras on the same switch. I also just plugged in the camera to the router using a POE injector, and the results are the same. Camera has power but is not sending any data.

Did you end up finding the issue? I have the same issue except my camera does not cycle and the power stays on...
