Hi all

I have 5 Hikvision 2CD2332-I cameras and have recently purchased a Hivision 7608-E2/8P NVR and was after a little advice please.

I have noticed the cameras have not only motion detection but also line detection and intrusion detection triggers, the NVR really only has motion detection

Is there away to use the line and or intrusion detection from the cameras end and have it record on the NVR?

Don't you need to access each camera and set each up for alarm area

I've used motion detection on my DS-7816N-E2/8P NVR F/W 3.0.8 with DS-2032-I and it works OK, though as we all know, there are loads of unwanted alerts - birds, rain, mist, wind, spiders etc etc.

On the camera I configured line crossing detection and intrusion detection, for testing, with alarm linkage the same as motion detection, ie 'Notify Surveillance system' and trigger channel=camera channel.
This works OK in the camera, I can see the events in the camera log.
But - these events don't cross over into the NVR log, though they are listed as potential search criteria.

Does anyone know if camera 'line crossing detection' and 'intrusion detection' are new features in updated firmware for these NVRs? Do the options for these type of alarms exist under 'camera settings' in 3.0.10?
I might take a look at if any of these events are submitted to the NVR under ONVIF. We can see that the 2-series cameras support ONVIF event notifications for these analytics. It would be good if the NVR acknowledged them.

I can partially answer your question by saying that the NVR recognizes the intrusion detection alarms as both my cameras and NVR send me email alerts and the events show up in the NVR log. I am using continuous recording so I am not sure if it can trigger recording as well. It should. Try it out.

One thing, I am pretty sure you must have motion detection active if you want to enable intrusion/line detection.

What I have:

NVR: motion detection enabled for each cam but no area selected.

Cameras: motion detection enabled with areas drawn (you don't need any motion areas selected. Motion just needs to be enabled.) + intrusion detection enabled and areas drawn. In your case you will want to make sure trigger channel is selected.

edit: The events show up in the NVR log as SMART detected. These new motion features first appeared with camera f/w 5.1.6

ADCS - what model is your NVR, and what is the firmware version? This support may well be firmware revision dependant.
Certainly my DS-7816N-E2/8P NVR V3.0.8 does not react to the camera 'intrusion detection' and 'line crossing detection' events, though they do show up in the camera (DS-2CD2032-I 5.2.0) logs.

I think its the 76 series that has support for smart cam functions, (intrusion detection and line crossing)

@davesims - I changed the NVR config and did some tests on the camera where I configured both 'line crossing detection' and 'intrusion detection' directly on the camera. And Motion detection on my DS-7816N-E2/8P NVR F/W 3.0.8 with DS-2032-I
The logs and the recording now react to those type of camera events.
The key to getting those events recognised by the NVR to trigger recording was to configure the right type of schedule.
See the screenshots below.

FWIW, my NVR log looks exactly like yours but with a continuous record schedule.

Alastair, are you able to draw more than one region for Intrusion Detection? I have a drop down but it only allows 1 region. The Hikvision manuals indicate 4 regions can be drawn. Thanks!

I have the same model as yourself and the same firmware version, I can only draw one region as well

Camera firmware V5.1.6 has four (4) Intrusion Detection regions V5.2.0 has one (1).

Firmware 5.2.0 is missing a few of the features that 5.1.6 had (Traversing Virtual plane is reduced to one region plan, Face Detection has been removed)

I have read elsewhere that some of these new features added in 5.1.6 were putting to much workload on the camera processor and that is why they were reduced or removed from 5.2.0
