Hey guys, having huge troubles with remotely accessing BI. My internet provider doesn’t support a static IP. What are the alternatives? My router is a Huawei Model B315s - 608. Can access remotely in my local network but not externally. Don’t really want to change internet providers if can help it. If i can get this sorted I will be one happy Chappy. Spent hours online researching with no luck.

Go with a DDNS service (DynDNS, NO-IP, FreeDNS, and more). Create a hostname like 'mypuppycam1@myDDNS.net' as allowed by the service and put that in for your WAN (remote) address.

The DDNS service will need to know if your local IP (the dynamic one assigned by your ISP) changes. Many routers have that option as do some NVR's.
Also, most DDNS providers have a free client that you download and install on PC and configure to periodically 'tell' your DDNS what you IP is so it can update your unique hostname with the new IP. It's best to let the router do it if it can.

I use NO-IP and they have a free client for the PC called 'DUC' (Dynamic Update Client). I have the 'Enhance' service for $25/year for 24 hostnames (I have installed a dozen or so for customers and friends). They also have a free version for one hostname but you have to renew it annually for it to remain operational.

Perhaps other forum members will contribute their favorable experiences with more free DDNS providers.

EDIT: After Googling your router I discovered it's likely for a cellular service. If so, you can probably disregard what I said above. This is because the DDNS may require a public IP address to function correctly. If so your router is sitting behind the cellular provider's NAT and will only see the NAT firewall. There may not be a way for the DDNS services to respond correctly. It would not cost anything except your time to try a free DDNS.

You don't need a static IP address from your ISP for BI. Just use the remote access wizard in BI and make sure the "Register IP address to assist with client app connections" option is enabled. This is all explained in the BI help file.

Where are these files you speak of lol? Would love to find them? I cannot find this option in the remote access wizard either?

There are no files, these are just options within BI.

Once you have gone through the connection wizard and setup a connection to the internet go into BI Options and enable "Register IP address to assist with client app connections". This does require you have the BI client on your mobile device to work.

If your ISP changes your IP address and you try to access BI through the client app you should see the following screen on your mobile device. Just click on Edit on the first screen and then make sure the first and last 5 digits of your BI license are entered into the appropriate field on the next screen and then click Get IPs and BI will find the new IP from your ISP and repopulate the WAN field.

Please note: This is an iOS example, Android devices may differ.

Apparently I have already had that ticked. I can remotely access in my server but not once I leave it. I though this was because of the no static IP problem. In my wizard I get all the way to remote access test and it fails. I set up a port on my router also. Canyousee.org jst says I can not see your service.

Your problem is that you have a mobile provider that does not provide a routeable external ip....sometimes they will, for a price...its not a static ip issue...call them.
